Extracurricular
New ReleaseWhen a former pop star enrolls in college, the last thing she expects is A-plus chemistry with her psychology professor in this sexy and tender romance from #1 New York Times bestselling author Rachel Lynn Solomon.
“This is Rachel Lynn Solomon at her absolute best: a moving love story between two people learning to trust not only the good in each other, but in themselves.”—Ellen O’Clover, author of The Heartbreak Hotel
Ramona Wilder has spent her whole life in the spotlight. After a hit kids’ TV show, she transitioned into music, singing in arenas around the world and becoming an icon for millions of teenage girls. Now at age twenty-six, exhausted by the inhumane lack of privacy, she’s done—with all of it. She wants a chance at normal, whatever that might mean for her. And she’s starting with college.
Professor Nick Navarro is recently divorced but determinedly optimistic, allowing himself a very reasonable ten minutes per day to wallow. When his department calls a meeting about a celebrity enrollment, he plans to treat whoever it is like any other student. Except when Ramona blazes into class and causes an uproar, the typically easygoing professor is rattled, maybe for the first time in his career.
Ramona loves the way she flusters him, taking every opportunity to push Nick’s buttons, though what she really wants is to unbutton them completely. When a crisis brings them closer outside of class, they begin a tentative friendship amid an undeniable attraction. But Ramona can’t be so easily finished with her old life, and they’ll both have to confront their pasts if they want a chance at something real.

I bought this book because the cover was by Brittany Keller art and I’m basically a fan page for her and this point and because it was a student teacher romance. It did not disappoint, it was a really sweet book. Nick was a great mmc and I loved Romona so much. Her story was heartbreaking but watching her find her happy ending was so beautiful. She truly deserved so much more than she got by those around her. Also Betty was a real one! This was my first book by Rachel Lynn Solomon and I really enjoyed, the story and the chemistry between the characters so I’m definitely going to be looking into reading some of her other books.

Oh Rachel Lynn Solomon how I love you <3 It's been such a long time since I've read a romance and have been so invested in both main characters. Nick and Ramona are two characters you really root for not just as a couple, but as their own individual people. Their love is so tender and warm, and truly a beautiful story to read.

I've enjoyed everything I've ever read from Rachel Lynn Solomon, and Extracurricular is no exception! This was a fun ride with a non-traditional romance that was refreshing to see. As someone who has also gone back to school in their mid-twenties, it was so nice to see (some) of my experience on the page, and I also appreciated the way the age gap between Ramona and Nick was handled. Their connection felt really genuine and developed well throughout the story. The wider family subplots--with Ramona struggling to connect with her family and Nick having fun with his-- were also a nice addition, adding depth to a story that otherwise could have come across a bit shallow. As always, I'll be greatly anticipating the author's next release and would easily recommend her work to just about anyone. **Thank you to Berkley Publishing and NetGalley for an ARC of this book.**
