Mooncursed
Coming Soon · November 3, 2026FROM BESTSELLING AUTHOR HOLLY RENEE COMES AN EMOTIONALLY COMPELLING ROMANTASY DRENCHED IN SALT AND MAGIC.
A cursed sea king, a stolen bride, and a fate meant for another.
They say madness dwells in the ocean’s depths…and in the eyes of the Drowned King. Cursed to take a human bride and break her mind the moment she sees his face, the Drowned King spends his life in torment, watching. Waiting.
Lou was never meant to be chosen. Branded from birth as a saltwitch, she has always been seen as the cursed shadow of her moonblessed twin. Now, veiled and bound in marriage to a man she must never see, she’s thrust into a life of ancient gods and unraveling fate…and unspeakable desire.
Yet even as fear becomes tangled with a perilous longing for the Drowned King’s heated touch, the truth of her choosing looms over her like a siren’s song. It rages louder with every breath she takes as whispers travel through the kingdoms: rumblings of war, of ancient goddesses awakening, of a queen with saltwater on her lips who will change everything.
There is no stopping fate, for though she was never meant to be chosen, the moon has already summoned the tide.

Thank you to NETGALLY, Holly Rene and Sourcebook Casablanca for this ARC! This book is incredible. I love the writing, and how deeply you can feel what Lou and Rune are feeling. Even if it is emotionally devastating. You can feel every emotion so vividly, it is truly written so well. The Prologue was so so good and I just loved how it was written - and how it set the story up so well. Rune and Lou are both so strong, caring and equally stubborn. They are doing their best in a really awful situations. And I think even from the start you can tell how they truly are made for each other, with the parallels in their lives. I also enjoyed the sibling banter to break up the more serious moments of this book. It added some much needed humour and light moments - showing that even when things are difficult you can find joy. They also showed how hard Rune truly works to keep his family, and his people safe even this with curse over them. While also trying to keep Lou safe, break/solve this curse and so Lou (or anyone) would not have to go through what his mother did. I was shocked by the ending and I am very very excited for a possible second book cause I need to know what is going to happen next with Lou, Rune and the curse. And to see their relationship hopefully grow. I also would really like to learn more about Lou being Mirrorborn and what that does to the curse.
