Liz Tomforde has done it again. She created another fictional man, gave him emotional intelligence, tattoos, a devotion to his family, and the ability to respect powerful women. Frankly, this feels targeted. I absolutely LOVED In Her Own League. Reese was ambitious, intelligent, and fully aware that everyone was waiting for the first female owner of a professional baseball team to fail. Unfortunately for them, she was smarter than most of the room. I loved how the story explored the pressure Reese faced without reducing her to a cold “girlboss” stereotype. She cared deeply about the team, but she also had difficult decisions to make if she wanted to secure its future. And Emmett Montgomery? My latest fictional crush and the reason my standards are now floating somewhere in the stratosphere. THE CRUSH I HAVE ON THIS MAN IS CRAZY. Emmett respected Reese’s authority, supported her ambitions, challenged her when necessary, and never felt threatened by her success. Their romance felt mature, natural, and completely earned. The chemistry, banter, mutual respect, and gradual transformation of professional tension into a suspicious amount of sexual tension had me giggling, kicking my feet, and reconsidering my complete lack of interest in baseball. Then came the ending. I was sitting on the EDGE of my seat, completely convinced I knew where everything was going. Reader, I did not. Liz Tomforde saw my theory, patted me gently on the head, and took the story in a completely different—and much better—direction. ALSO, FUCK SCOTT. That is all, Windy City series is still a 5 star series and yet again, I loved a book by Liz Tomforde

The best in this series! I absolutely LOVED Emmett and Reese. Together, their energy was wonderful and they truly were such a fun change of pace. Reese is a 10/10 FMC, a boss bitch who is so has a heart of gold that even though she may not think it, she wears that on her sleeve. Emmett was a perfect MMC, from being so soft and loving to passionate and exciting. Their relationship felt completely natural, and the tense moments really delivered because the "forbidden" aspect really was well done in a way that was understandable. Absoluetly recommend this, especially as a plus-size girly who appreciated that it wasn't harped on in the book as a huge deal, and Emmett saying "yeah I have a type, that's why I lift heavy" was absolutely the hottest thing ever.
