★★★☆☆ Not on the Resume follows Elliot, a twenty-six-year-old woman who finally catches a break after years of dead-end jobs when she lands a position working for Cameron Pierce. The only problem? Her new boss has a reputation for being an intimidating ice queen, and the more time they spend together, the harder it becomes to ignore the chemistry between them. I picked this up for an LGBTQ+ reading challenge, and honestly? I felt pretty indifferent by the time I finished it. It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't anything particularly memorable. It simply existed in my brain for a little while, and now it's slowly packing its bags. The story is cute, low stakes, and simple—perfect if you're looking for something quick and easy. Unfortunately, I found myself skimming through parts of it, and I never really connected with the characters. I did enjoy the dynamic between the two main characters, and the smut? 👀 That was probably the strongest part of the book for me. However, their relationship felt rushed and underdeveloped. I wanted more yearning! More buildup! Give me a reason to sit there kicking my feet before they get together! Instead, things moved along a little too quickly for me to become fully invested. Overall, if you're looking for something cute, low stakes, and quick for the kicks and giggles, this might be the book for you.
