Fall Shook Up
Fall Shook Up is a cozy, autumn-inspired, grumpy/sunshine small-town romantic comedy about a reclusive artist and a nosey journalist who just can’t seem to stay away from him… The grumpy recluse begrudgingly rents me his guest house if I agree to leave him alone. Too bad I've never been good at doing what I'm told. I am in desperate need of a place to live when my ex-boyfriend unceremoniously kicks me out weeks before a huge break in my career.
Things look hopeless until I find a listing for a home that would be perfect, complete with a concise list of dos and don'ts. All I have to do is ignore the alarmingly good-looking owner, Levi, and follow his strict rules. As the days pass and I continue to push boundaries it gets harder to avoid his sweet compassion, capable hands, and attractive glower.
The lines of our strict owner/tenant relationship continue to blur as the truth behind his protective shell is uncovered. Can I let him be or will my instincts for information trample the intense attraction growing between us? I'm under deadline, over my head, and (F)all shook up thinking about Levi.

A grumpy, reclusive artist rents his guest house to a nosy journalist on the single condition that she leaves him alone. Naturally, Claire does not. Boundaries? Never heard of her. Romance must proceed. Fall Shook Up delivered everything I wanted from a cosy autumn romance: small-town charm, excellent banter, quirky emails and enough pumpkin-spice energy to make me want to dramatically relocate to a cottage surrounded by crunchy leaves. Claire and Levi were incredibly cute together, and Levi may act like an antisocial woodland creature, but underneath all that grumbling is one gigantic cinnamon roll. Obviously, I loved him. Levi is supposedly a grumpy recluse, but that man is about as threatening as an angry cinnamon roll. He just wants to brood, make art and avoid humanity—but unfortunately, Claire arrives with questions, chaos and the journalistic determination of someone who has never once respected a metaphorical “keep out” sign. Watching her bulldoze through his emotional security system was delightful. I also loved that there was genuine emotional depth underneath all the cosy silliness. Both characters had actual baggage rather than one tiny misunderstanding that could have been solved by sending a three-word text. Growth! Communication! Emotional vulnerability! In this economy?! Some parts were predictable, but this is a cosy autumn romance. I did not come here to uncover an international conspiracy. I came for flirting, feelings and one antisocial man being aggressively inconvenienced by love—and the book delivered. Four stars for the banter, the autumn vibes and Levi being a grumpy little woodland creature with a heart. I had a lovely time.
