I don’t even know what to say except I hate Nura and I want her to die. I don’t know who hurt Carissa but why did she do this to us 😭😭. So unwell over so many parts of this book especially the ending! The ending of the first book did not prepare me for the utter torment for this one, I wanted a funny little romance break before I locked in and finished this series but that truly is just not possible right now. Honestly this has me so sad right now I am truly depressed.

I really enjoyed this second book, tensions are high, crazy shit is happening, theres magic and depth to the characters, even the side characters are well done. The romance is amped up a little, but its not a primary focus, more like a slight relive after some crazy shit sprinkled in here or there - which is nice. The MFC - her powers are like damn thats fucked lol would not want to go out that way... but the connections with the characters and their magic is really fun. This one leaves you on a cliff hanger so be prepared to grab the 3rd book soon after because this one is pretty brutal in terms of character suffering goes...

4.75 stars Carissa knows how to grow a story while keeping the readers interest. I say this because without the inclusion of Aefe POV, I don't think I would've rated this higher than the first book. The first book was already filled with humanity's worst traits but this book seemed to say "hang on, there's more!" At points, I felt ill while reading but couldn't help notice how they mirrored some of history's worst crimes. I loved how the characters developed and I cannot wait to read the final book.
