The War of Lost Hearts #3

Mother of Death & Dawn

Carissa Broadbent

4.68

Tell me, little butterfly, what would you do for love? In the wake of a crushing defeat, Tisaanah and Maxatarius have been ripped apart. Tisaanah is desperate to rescue Max from his imprisonment, even as her people's fight for freedom grows more treacherous.

But within the walls of Ilyzath, Max's mind is a shadow of what it once was... leaving his past a mystery and his future at the mercy of Ara's new, ruthless queen. Meanwhile, in the Fey lands, Aefe has been dragged back into this world by a king who vows to destroy civilizations in her name. But even as her past returns to claim her, her former self is a stranger.

Tisaanah, Max, and Aefe are thrust into the center of a cataclysm between the human and Fey worlds. The unique magic they share is key to either winning the war, or ending it. But that power demands sacrifice.

Tisaanah may be forced to choose between love and duty. Max cannot forge his future without confronting his past. And Aefe must decide between reclaiming who she was, or embracing who she has become.

The choices they make will either reshape this world forever...or end it. In the harrowing finale of the War of Lost Hearts trilogy, a tale of romance, magic, vengeance, and redemption comes to a close -- perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas, Miranda Honfleur, and Danielle Jenson.

I can’t believe I put off reading this series for so long!? God I loved this trilogy so much and both Max and Tisaanah mean the world to me. I have not stopped thinking about this series since I finished it. I cried NUMEROUS times, it was so rough for so many different parts of this series but it was also done in such a breathtakingly beautiful way. The writing was immaculate. The world hurt so bad in such a good way, every single character had such distinct personalities and they were all so memorable. Either you loved them or you loved to hate them but they stick with you either way. I loved how everyone in this series had so many facets, it did such an amazing job of showing how no one is all good or all evil and all the things in their lives that turned them into who they were. Except you Nura, you are the literal devil and I do in fact hate every molecule of your being.

The first half of this was rough, it seemed like our beloved characters could not catch a break… I really enjoyed this series, it was really good to see it all come together in the end and watch everyone get a second chance, after all the sacrifices that were made to get there. I highly recommend trying this one out, its fast paced, the characters are great, theres epic battles, and a deep rooted drive for everyone to get shit done no matter how beat down they get. The magic is awesome, and even the characters I was supposed to hate earned some of my sympathy in the end. Overall very good, highly recommend.
