A Ruin of Roses
Book one in the steamy Deliciously Dark Fairytales series, the BookTok bestselling dark romantasy reimagining of Beauty and the Beast where monsters lurk in the forest . . . and they might just take a bite. I could save him, but he would ruin me. The beast.
The creature that stalks the forbidden wood. The dragon prince. He has suffered a fate worse than death.
We all have. A curse put upon us by the mad king. We are a kingdom locked in time.
Shifters unable to feel our animals. Stuck here by a deal between the late king and a demon who seeks our destruction. The only one keeping this kingdom alive is Nyfain, the golden prince to a stolen throne.
The last dragon shifter. He's our hope. He's my nightmare.
When he catches me trespassing in the forbidden wood, he doesn't punish me with death, as he's entitled to. He takes me, instead. Forces me back to the castle as his prisoner.
Seeks to use me. Apparently, I can save him. I can save the whole forgotten kingdom, locked away by the demon king's power.
But it would mean taming the monster beneath his skin. It would mean giving myself to him. It would mean my ruin.
This is a dark and spicy Beauty and the Beast retelling featuring an anti-hero, a strong heroine, and a humorous supporting cast. This is an enemies-to-lovers and possible fated mates story suitable for 18+. It's the first of four books, ending on a cliffhanger.

2/5 ⭐ 3/5 🌶️ 📖 My Thoughts My general opinion of this book was that it was entertaining in some parts but the constant jokes from the MFC did get a little old. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't something that had me paying close attention. Personally, I found the constant back and forth emotional and sexual tension between the main characters to be annoying. I understand resistance between characters that are naturally opposed to one another in the world that they are in, but eventually, we need some give. Otherwise, I loved the setting of the book and the descriptions of the Forbidden Wood. The characters had me laughing quite a bit, but again, rolling my eyes a lot as well. ⚠️Triggers Some of the triggers for this book include violence, blood, terminal illness, sexual harassment, stalking, confinement, bullying, and emotional abuse. 🌶️Spice Honestly, I felt the spice was pretty good. I loved all of the primal and dirty descriptions the author used. For instance, when the MFC arrives at the castle and sees other characters participating in sexual acts, that was super hot. However, the connection between the main characters fell a little flat. The constant tug and pull between them turned me off.

This book gave me Tamlin vibes, if Tam Tam was a hot broken dragon shifter, moody gardener whose court was in a constant state of orgys… I liked the banter and shade of the characters with each other. They were all so shameless and I had fun with it. It was a slow start, took me about 30% before I really started getting into it. The you did something bad on my land, now I will take you prisoner forever… plot was a little too familiar, as was oh yea, everyone here is also cursed… and theres some foreshadowing she will probably have to be the one to break the curse, but I didnt mind, and it was different enough to be a fun read. I will be continuing on to the next book in this series, because I’m invested now…
