I have thoughts. Several thoughts. The first thought is that I really enjoyed this book! I was slightly nervous about finally getting into this series, but I actually loved this. I love Carissa’s writing! It’s very fast-paced and it was easy to understand. I love Oraya. So very much. The rollercoaster of emotions I went through in the last 25% of that book was insane. I want to hate Raihn, I need to, but I can’t. I simply can’t. I’m keeping this short because I don’t have the motivation to write more. I give it 4.5/5 stars, and I’m excited to continue!

This was SO good, its like hunger games meets vampires, with way less tech, but way more magic. The world is ruinously beautiful, the characters well thought out, and the drive to win kept me wanting more with each trial. I had a hard time not staying up way past my bedtime just trying to squeeze in just one more chapter… The tension build up was amazing, while still having me plenty preoccupied with the plot. Then the end… WHAT?! TF?!! 🌶️ 2/5 So much tension once the story started rolling. I felt like i was a rebellious teen again raised to hate specific people, then fed little tidbits so slowly that i didn’t even realize i loved them and didn’t want to lose them, even though that was a constant gnawing thought deep in the back of my mind. Unlike hunger games, i didn’t feel like this romance was forced, more of a bonus to the overall story line. Oh my… sloooow burn for sure, but when the spice finally starts spicing… its really satisfying.
