EDIT: I still loved this one. Definitely still a 5/5 stars for me, and I truly do love these characters so much. ____________ EDIT: Y'all I'm speechless again. I'd forgotten exactly how much this book meant to me. This is one of those books where everything about it is just perfection. To think that it took me 6 months to read it the first time is shocking to me. Like, genuinely shocking. It took 13 days to read this time. which is only 2 days longer than it took me to read Kingdom of Ash. It's actually insane to me. Anyways, I'm still just as in love with this book as I was the first time I read it. 5/5 stars and I still love this book. _____________ Wow. I'm just speechless. I started reading this over six months ago, and it's finally done, and I'm not sure what to say. Kaltain deserved better, I can definitely say that. I loved Manon in this! Her heart definitely grew during this. Kind of like the Grinch, but in a way, I guess she was like him. Rowan.. Rowan is definitely my current favorite book boyfriend. Aelin.. I love her so much. From The Assassin's Blade to this, she's definitely developed as a character, which I love. I honestly loved everything about this book. It took me over six months to read it, but half of that was from procrastination. Once I got into the book, I absolutely loved it. It's one of my favorites in the series so far. Overall, I rate it 5/5 stars, and I'll probably re-read it when I re-read the rest of the series.

As I get deeper into this series, its hard not to notice the GOT parallels… fire and ice check, oath breakers check, little girl assassin check, army of dead check… dragons check, murder lots of beloved characters check check. However, this is much better than GOT (imo), if at least in the sense that its complete… lol I always thought if the GOT series was written by a woman it would of been finished by now, and far more satisfying than the show ending, which is what I hope to find out once I reach the end of this looong ass series. SJM does a brilliant job of making me love/hate characters then redeeming them in a way (or vilifying them) that makes me change my mind about them and root or boo them. This book was so good, the spice tension had me so frustrated though lol - but I love the MCs and even though it was hard to get into the witches chapters and POV Im really loving their journey at the end of this. 🌶️ 0/5 Have a bucket of ice water at the ready…

I’m so happy to finally be reading these books again, because this was great. I really like all of the different perspectives, showing us what’s going on elsewhere, and I liked the way it all came together—and its promise of more to come. While one evil has been defeated, more is at stake than ever. Who will come out unscathed once this is said and done? I loved seeing Aelin come into her power and become stronger. I loved seeing Manon’s slow rejection of the old ways and the emphasis on the need for change. And I was dying to know whether Chaol and Aelin would ever make amends, if Dorian would be freed… Although I think this series follows a similar structure to ACOTAR’s “one evil defeated, something worse underway,” this was still a good time. I’m excited to start the tandem read next.
