Okay first of all, WHAT WAS THAT ENDING? HUH? HOW ARE YOU GONNA END A BOOK LIKE THAT? Anyways. I loved this book. I was so excited to see Jacks again. I love Evangeline. She’s my new baby and I love her. I love the new magic system in this one, and I love hearing the history of the North. I’m so excited to continue with this series. CAN JACKS STOP BEING A LITTLE PROBLEM FOR ONE BOOK? I LOVE HIM, BUT STOP. Can he not set Evangeline up to open this stupid arch? Anyways, I give this book 4.5/5 stars, and I’m excited to continue.

The FMC was just too stupid, ruined the book. The concept was good, but she was just the worst kind of character.

I liked it well enough. I enjoyed how cutesy and silly it was, but also, how naive the MFC could be at times. I’m not super attached to the characters at this point in the story but I hear the second one gets more interesting.

This was a little slow for me, I mean I liked the magic aspect, but the MFC i had trouble relating to. She was so naive and gullible. Which I get it, shes a character, but yea is what it is. I didnt feel a lot of attachment to the characters, and I was constantly screaming at the FMC like wtf are you doing?? Girl puts too much trust in everyone… And what is with some of these names?? “LALA” - come on… lol it was fun in a way, hoping the series gets better. I liked the MMC - he was interesting, conniving, and in my head a bit of a bad boy hottie.

I fear I don't get the hype. The lack of character substance, chemistry, plot... but it was a quick and easy read, at least. Will probably hate read the next two because I need to know where this train wreck ends. 🤭
