Edit: I have once again struggled. It shall remain a 4 star. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edit: I struggled. Yet again. It's staying 4 stars. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT: Sigh. Once again, this proves to be my least favorite of the series. Listen, there's none of these books I dislike, but this one is always the one I struggle to get through. I did enjoy it though, so that's something. I think I'm changing my rating back to 4 stars this time! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT: So, this is actually shocking to me, but I'm moving my rating up to a 4.5/5 star again! I genuinely enjoyed my re-read this time, and it's definitely moved up in the rank of the series for me. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Okay, so the first time I read this, I gave it 4.5/5 stars. This time, however, I think it’s going down to a 4 star. I loved it, but it just wasn’t.. it. Like, I loved it, but it didn’t have what the other books have. I’m glad I re-read it, though. I’d forgotten that the valg came in during this book, and that this was when Baba Yellowlegs was murdered. This book is the Chamber of Secrets in the Throne of Glass series for me. I liked it, but the other books are better. I loved Dorian in this more than I loved Chaol. I love Chaol. I do. But.. Dorian owns a piece of my heart. Overall, I give this book 4/5 stars, and even though I enjoyed it, I don’t think it’s a 5 star read, but I’ll probably read it again at some point!

Oh my what a rollercoaster was this. I don't even know how to begin writing this review.... The beginning of the book took a good while for me to take off. The start felt really slow, but that might also have to do with the fact that I was studying a lot for my exams and therefore my focus was not really with the book. ANYWAY the second half of this book had me in a CHOKEHOLD. I read the second half in mainly one sitting (yes after my exams lol) and was happy, giggling, admiring, crying, sobbing, rethinking my life decisions and mainly shocked at what all happened. WARNING SPOILERS FOR THE ENDING OF THIS BOOK: The freaking last chapter man...... I wrote down during chapter 22 - aelin = celaena???? but thought that might be weird when the rebels were working together with Aelin.... Wellll..... when we found out Archer was working together with Nehemia, and Nehemia was working together with Celaena.... that should have been a sign lol, but still SHOCKED when I read the last chapter!!!! I gave up on this prediction and thought nothing of it anymore BUT HOLY COW!!!! SJM you still write so so so beautifully and your plottwist are truly amazing!!! Onto the next :)

Oh man that was fucking GOOD! I mean there was a death that broke my heart, and the back and forth of the romance was frustrating… but at the end… wow, just wow. This is how a series is written and it just keeps getting better and better. The character development, the pacing, i could not put this down. And I am pumped to see where this is going. 🌶️ 1/5 Not really.. I mean its not super descriptive but its happening a little…
