I really wanted to like this, but I don’t think I’ve ever picked up and put down a book as much as I did this one. It was ok, but it didn’t really DRAW me in and make me thirst for more. I was more just trying to push through it. And I get the MMC was supposed to be “grumpy” but he wasn’t a very likable grump, like he didn’t have any grump quirks that really stuck out and make me root for him. He’s giving orange cat energy vibes. The conversations and between the 2 was as if they were trying to be witty, but a lot of it fell flat and dull. Is she supposed to be ghost writing his memoir or are they just fake dating? Why isnt she stressing about her job... All they really talk about is sex they arnt having… This plot had a lot of potential to really give you more depth, and bond the characters in background, but I couldn’t even tell you what was so good about this athlete that’d require him to have a memoir worth writing… EXCEPT then you get to the end, and info dump a rom-com worthy ending that actually wasnt bad, was it worth the wait? idk.. 🌶️: 3/5 Their relationship felt forced and awkward in a way that the chemistry just wasn’t there imo. It slow burned in an awkward way like by time i got to the “real” spice, i was kinda over it… there was plot then it was just like gone, idk I guess they deserved each other miscommunication and all.
