  Brianna & Dante's meet cute was humorous. He is attending his niece's wedding, and before it starts, he is admiring the wedding cake sculpture, and there were extra cupcakes to the side that he couldn't resist tasting. She sees him eating them and mistakes him for an employee of the venue and scolds him. He is immediately smitten with her. Brianna is a struggling baker who specializes in designing cakes for special events. Her boss at the bakery is terrible and takes advantage of her at every opportunity. She grew up in foster care and has been scrimping to put herself through culinary school. She is friends with Dante's niece, whom she met in college, who asks her to make her wedding cake. Dante tracks her down after she disappears early from the wedding. He ends up kidnapping her and bringing her to his home in Italy. He pays off her debts and makes a deal with her to pay it off by baking him a cake a day for 60 days. I was not a fan of the third act break or the reasoning behind it, but luckily it didn't last too long. It also bothered me that, towards the beginning, he was saying that their relationship was only temporary, that he was not built for forever. Is the story over the top & absurd? Yes. Did I enjoy it anyway? Yes. He kept me close, and for the first time in my life, I felt as if I was exactly where I belonged. With him. I had a feeling she wouldn’t be as pleased to see me as I was to see her. I found her fascinating. I couldn’t explain it. I didn’t understand it. She no doubt thought that she’d lock herself inside and would be safe from me. That I would forget about her, or she would try to convince herself she had misheard me. She really had no idea who she was dealing with. But she was about to find out. “I’m sorry, Little Bee, but it has to happen.” “You’ll love it.” “It’s all right, we’ll be there soon. I have you.” “You bewitched me. You and your delicious cakes. Your sultry voice. Your sassy mouth. I can’t get you out of my mind. I want you to bake for me. Sing for me. Dance with me. You will earn your freedom, one cake, one song, one dance at a time.” “You’re crazy.” “Yes, I am. About you. You’ve gotten under my skin, Little Bee. In an instant. You’re a craving I can’t satisfy. So I am going to take all I can. Every bite. Every flavor. You are going to be mine for the next while. Once my craving is done, once my sweet tooth is satisfied, you’ll go home.” Here, though, I felt exactly that. Safe. Which was odd, considering the fact that I was here because Dante kidnapped me. I wasn’t letting her go, but things would go better if she decided she had made the choice on her own terms. “You always have my full attention when you’re in the room.” There was no doubt he was intense. Scary when angry. Determined and bossy. Extremely high-handed and demanding. Had a propensity for doing as he pleased, even if it meant taking control of someone else’s life by kidnapping them. Yet with me, he showed a gentler side. He smiled. Laughed. Teased. Asked for little in return, to be honest. My company. My cakes. And my body. As to how I want you to act, just be my little bee. Mouthy, funny, and sweet. I like it when you tell me off. Most people wouldn’t dare. I like everything about you, okay? So I just want you to be you.” But somehow, when he was close, I wasn’t as shy. I felt bolder with him next to me, as if nothing could hurt or bother me. I liked the feeling. “I love you. I fucking love you so much, I have no idea how to deal with it.” “I didn’t ask you, Bee. I told you that you were marrying me. But I want you to know I did that because I can’t be without you. I need you more than I have ever needed anything in my life. So, marry me, please. Be beside me. I will love and protect you with everything in me. Always.” “Dante, you gave me a place to call home. You gave me your heart, the greatest gift of all. You make me safe, loved, and seen. I promise to love you forever, and I look forward to our life together.”

  I know the title is “My Favorite Kidnapper” but i was still surprised when he actually kidnapped her (and the cat...) haha. And the way he gobbled up those cookies like a frantic child discovering Willy Wonkas factory for the first time was so funny, I love how the fmc teases the mmc about being an “old man” lol this was cute and short. 🌶️: 4/5 The spice was fun, sexy, idk how i feel about her being a 26 yo virgin, but it was fine, and the chemistry/build up for these 2 worked nicely.
