A Shadow in the Reaping
A dark, sexy, and wickedly funny new enemies-to-lovers romance for readers of Laura Thalassa, Sarah J. Maas, Kerri Maniscalco, and Jennifer L. Armentrout.
A siren who must stay silent to survive. An executioner with a bounty he cannot kill. Lu has been living a quiet, undercover life as a vampire hidden in the quaint village of Sanford.
Afraid that her voice will give her secrets away, Lu has lived for years without words, speaking only to the one witch she can trust. Except, of course, when it's time to hunt. When it comes to luring in her victims, no song is sweeter than Lu's.
But when Lu's hunt is interrupted by Ashen, a mysterious and striking Reaper of the Shadow Realm, it seems like fate has finally caught up with her. An executioner with a soul to claim, Ashen doesn't realize he's stumbled on the bounty of an immortal lifetime until it's too late. As the two enemies are forced to work together to solve a crime that shouldn't be possible, it's more than just secrets that emerge between them.
With every moment that passes, Lu finds it harder and harder to live like a shadow among her enemies, especially the enigmatic demon she's bound to. She might just be a little bored of living the quiet life. But for Lu, nothing is more inseparable than danger and desire. ...And there are few creatures in any realm more dangerous than Ashen. *mature themes, including violence, strong language, & sexual content*

3/5 ⭐ 3/5 🌶️ 💘 Tropes - this section - is completely - optional - but can be - very fun 📖 My Thoughts I really wanted to like this more than I did! At first, I was enjoying the direction of the plot but it fell flat. While I really loved Lu’s fiery personality and wit, she wasn’t as badass as I wanted her to be. She was constantly being protected by Ashen and that’s a turnoff especially since she’s a vampire that is hundreds of years old. The “love” between Lu & Ashen felt artificial and too quick. There was A LOT of pop culture references which doesn’t bother me when it’s here and there but honestly it became a little repetitive. Can I also say that I HATED Ashen constantly calling Lu, ‘Vampire’ even after they admit their feelings for one another. It was off-putting and he said it every other sentence. I’m giving three stars because I actually love Brynne Weaver and her ruinous trilogy, so I know there is potential there. ⚠️ Triggers Physical violence, including fighting and killing, Profanity, Sexual assault - groping of a character's breast (goes no further than this), Explicit sexual content (all consensual) 🌶️ Spice There was some spice but it felt bland to me honestly. I think this was because I wasn't feeling the chemistry between the characters. They start off as enemies and then it becomes insta-love and that can be hard to do in my opinion if there is no history between the characters. All in all, the spicy scenes were quite forgettable.

So good! Fun easy read, vampy meets shadow daddy - say no more. Love the “fuck you” mentality of the FMC and her obsession with WAP. Fully heart broken with the betrayal BUT im here for the revenge. 🌶️ 3/5 The “insta love” felt a lil forced, but i really enjoyed the buildup/tension in this. The spice was fun and flowed well with the characters chemistry. Excited to see where this one goes. BW as an author is an insta read for me. 💚
