Graves Glen #2

The Kiss Curse

Erin Sterling

4.31

Always practise safe hex . . . New York Times bestselling author Rachel Hawkins, writing as Erin Sterling, follows her sensational TikTok hit, The Ex Hex, and casts a spell with a new spine-tingling romance full of wishes, witches, and cursed kisses. ................................................ Magic doesn't always play by the rules.

Gwyn Jones is perfectly happy with her life in Graves Glen. She's formed a powerful new coven with her family; she's running a successful witchcraft shop, Something Wicked; and she's mentoring some of the younger witches in town. As Halloween approaches, there's only one problem - Llewellyn 'Wells' Penhallow.

Wells has come to Graves Glen for two reasons: to re-establish his family's connection to the town and to make a new life for himself away from his father. But when he opens a magic shop of his own just across the street from Gwyn's, he quickly learns that going up against her won't be as easy as he thought . . . especially after an accidental magic-inspired - and very hot - kiss. While Gwyn and Wells are fully committed to their witchy rivalry, they soon find themselves thrown together once again to deal with the sudden appearance of a mysterious new coven and Gwyn's growing concern that something - or someone - is messing with her magic . . . ................................................

4.5 ⭐️ This was just as cute as the last book, as always I adore the town and want to live there. Wells was an absolute cinnamon roll throughout this entire book and I adore how utterly obsessed he was with Gwen from the very beginning, but seriously who can blame him. I’m excited to get to the next one and learn all about that last mystery Penhallow brother. Especially to see what magic tricks he has up his sleeve and how he’s gunna deal with their father. The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that they wrapped up disappearing all the evil witches at the end so quickly and that Gwen got all her powers back on her own for seemingly no reason. But it was a good spooky season read regardless and I loved all the characters.

3/5 ⭐ 4/5 🌶️ Tropes - enemies to lovers - rivals to lovers - forced proximity 📖 My Thoughts This was a cute, cozy read but nothing super amazing. I honestly preferred the Ex Hex to this one as I felt Vivi and Rhys had better chemistry than Gwyn and Wells. The chemistry felt a little forced and rushed at times. I enjoyed the witty banter and spicy scenes. But honestly, the plot and bit of mystery in this one wasn’t as interesting or fun in my opinion. ⚠️ Triggers •Alcohol •Attempted murder (alluded to, not graphic) •Blood •Fire •Misogyny •Occult •Self-harm (spell related) 🌶️ Spice The spicy scenes were really the best part in this book 😅 Their little scene in the back of Gwyn’s pickup truck was HAWT. I love a man who wants to please and a man who loves a bossy woman.

Daaamn this was deliciously cute. I really liked book 1, but I'm struggling with deciding if just maybe... I liked this one more? The twist was twisty, and the talking cat was such a vibe lol. Maybe a little "too convenient" of resolution of the thing near the end... I shall not mention as it is a spoiler... BUT i loved these two MCs - the banter was bantering and the tension was tensioning. Cant wait for Bowen to do what needs to be done in book 3. 🌶️ 3/5 Very nice spice. Kinda wished some it wasn't fade to black, but I get the desire to not want to be repetitive, because these two were getting spicy quite a bit lol but I would have read that! #SpectacularlySpookySpice.

It didn’t really click with me that this was a sequel/second book of a series until I was like 100 pages in, and by that point, I was determined to keep going. Not because I found the story good, and especially not because I found the characters intriguing… neither of those things happened for me. But I wanted to see how this would end, and I wanted to see if the disaster pacing would ever get better—if plot points I actually considered important would ever actually be important and resolved well… they weren’t! They spent so many chapters eye-fucking each other and then fuck-fucking but then rushed through and easily resolved anything that could’ve been real, high-stakes conflict. Plot holes galore, this book was a bore. And I don’t even want to read book #1.
