Belladonna
1 MILLION COPIES SOLD IN THE SERIES
The first book in the #1 New York Times bestselling series brings to life a gothic-infused world of wealth, desire, and betrayal, as a young woman confronts Death in this fantastical mystery full of ghosts, magic, and romance.
Orphaned as a baby, nineteen-year-old Signa has been raised by a string of guardians, each one more interested in her wealth than her well-being—and each has met an untimely end. Her remaining relatives are the elusive Hawthornes, an eccentric family living at Thorn Grove, an estate both glittering and gloomy. Its patriarch mourns his late wife through wild parties, while his son grapples for control of the family’s waning reputation, and his daughter suffers from a mysterious illness. But when their mother’s restless spirit appears claiming she was poisoned, Signa realizes that the family she depends on could be in grave danger, and enlists the help of a surly stable boy to hunt down the killer.
However, Signa’s best chance of uncovering the murderer is an alliance with Death himself, a fascinating, dangerous shadow who has never been far from her side. Though he’s made her life a living hell, Death shows Signa that their growing connection may be more powerful—and more irresistible—than she ever dared imagine.

This was truly spectacular. I was hooked from the very first page and the whole time I was reading I was torn between not wanting to put it down and not wanting to read it in fear of it being over. I can’t wait to read the next two.

5/5 ⭐ 1/5 🌶️ 📖My Thoughts The way this book just became one of my favorites. First of all, the vibes were immaculate. I've never watched or read Bridgerton, but I get the idea, ok? If Bridgerton, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and Nancy Drew had a baby, it would be Belladonna. Although, it still managed to be so unique from anything I've personally watched or read before. This book came to life in my mind. All of the characters, especially the two main characters were so well-developed, intriguing, and charming. The descriptions of the atmosphere and the setting gave spooky yet cozy vibes. I physically wanted to step into this book and live in this world, meet these people, and solve this mystery. ⚠️Triggers The triggers for this book includes animal death, arson, death, infidelity, murder, poisoning, and sexism. 🌶️Spice Although the spice was vague due to it being YA, it was still really good. The author was so skilled at descriptions for scenes that it felt like you were getting more than you were. The chemistry and longing between the main characters was so delicious.

This was a fantastic mixture of fantasy, romance, mystery, and a touch of historical fiction. I normally am not a fan of historical fiction but this was really good and so well written. The story was easy to follow and the MCs were well done, had me swooning for Death. Those twists! I was trying to guess things, but it had me not expecting anything until the very end. I also liked that this wrapped up nicely, it's rare that a series will have a little bow tied on at the end and not a massive cliff hanger, but there was enough intrigue for me to want to read more. The narrator was fantastic, highly recommend and I am excited to continue this story. 🌶️ 1/5 I was not expecting there to be spice since this is technically a YA book? But there was some really hot moments that I just loved.
