Morbidly Yours
“Sweet and spicy and fabulous!”—ABBY JIMENEZ, New York Times bestselling author of Yours Truly TikTok sensation Morbidly Yours, an opposites-attract romantic dramedy about a shy, demisexual Irish mortician who must marry by his 35th birthday to keep his beloved family business, and the Texan widow escaping her past who moves in next door. Falling for the wrong person? Bury your feelings.
Painfully shy Callum Flannelly would rather dive into an open grave than take a stranger to dinner. But he can only inherit the family undertaking business under one condition: He must marry before his 35th birthday. Texan animator Lark Thompson moved to Galway, Ireland, to restart her life and career, not be reminded of losing her husband by moving in next to a funeral home.
But when she learns of Callum’s dilemma, Lark’s certain she can help him find The One, even if she’s sworn off love herself. Though as the dating project progresses and Lark spends more time with straight-laced, sarcastic Callum, he starts to crack the ice around her grieving heart. And the more joy that vivacious Lark brings to Callum’s grey existence, the less he can imagine letting her return to Texas.
If they think they can ignore their connection, they’re dead wrong. “FIVE STARS. My favorite kind of rom com: funny, sexy, smart, and deeply emotional.”—Annabel Monaghan, national bestselling author of Nora Goes Off Script “I laughed, I cried, I definitely swooned.
Emotionally complex, wholly unique and absolutely wonderful!”— Marissa Stapley, New York Times bestselling author of Lucky

3.5 ⭐️ It took me a bit to get into this story in part because of the slang and words I didn’t know that had me googling and at times just ignoring them all together. But once I got into the story I enjoyed it. This book really benefited from having a dual pov, I don’t think I would have liked this book as much if we didn’t get to be in both Lark and Callum’s heads. Callum was such a sweetheart throughout this entire story and he was so loving and patient with Lark at all times. I loved the representation of Callum being demisexual, its something not seen too often in romance novels and it always warms my heart to see it. Also finally a book where someone goes to therapy!?! I really loved how the third act breakup in this book was for an actual reason. Because of the trauma Lark has and the commitment issues that stemmed from that. Seeing her actually start to work on herself rather than having a third act breakup caused by miscommunication that could have been solved by a single conversation was so refreshing. Such a touching friends to lovers story where both characters truly make each other better versions of themself. 🌶️ 2/5 I loved the build up of the characters relationship also who doesn’t love a little public action 😏

❝*Mo chuisle? It means ‘my pulse.’ I never quite understood it before, what it meant to have another person be the d-driving force behind the pump of your blood, but it’s true. Lark, your smile saved me like an emergency transfusion. Your laugh is the song my every blood cell dances to. Your touch revived me from darkness. You are my pulse. You make me feel alive even when I’m surrounded by death.*❞ ❥ My thoughts If any book is proof that you don't need to add unnecessary miscommunications or drama to spice up the plot, this is it. I immediately fell in love with these sweet characters and their opposing personalities both of which brought light and dark qualities to the story. Both Callum and Lark start out as neighbors and the unlikeliest of friends, but their individual needs of acceptance and safety blooms the most tender love. Regardless of the tenderness of this story, it was also morbidly sarcastic and witty that I was constantly smiling and giggling. Highly recommend this if you're looking for friends to lovers, want inspiration in learning to forgive yourself, or just want a wholesome cry. ❥ Trigger warnings Graphic: Death, Grief, Sexual content Moderate: Car accident, Bullying, Sexual harassment Minor: Child death, Pregnancy, Terminal illness [Follow my Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/inkstainedemotions?igsh=aTh6eTZ6dGwxMXpy&utm_source=qr)

I love a good cozy romcom with banter. This was a morbidly adorable friends to lovers little story about an animator that moves from TX to a small Ireland town across the street from a cute mortician and his family owned funeral home - that he's set to lose if he doesn't marry someone within the timeline allotted by his dick of a father... I really enjoyed the aromantic representation in this with the MMC, he was awkward and had quirks that made me really want to root for him. The FMC was total opposite, bubbly and outgoing with a grief stricken past, that kept me wanting more and to solve this emotional mystery of what was it that had her so set in her resistance to commit to another relationship? 🌶️4/5 This is a bit of a slow burn but omg The spice SO good and the tension build up was perfect. These characters had such great chemistry. So cute - read it!

I picked this book up on a bit of a whim and it was so good, I finished it in one sitting. There was nothing about this I didn't love. Both main characters are so three-dimensional and endearing, and their individual arcs are just perfect. The romance between them was believable and it developed very naturally, in a way that had me on the edge of my seat waiting for the next big moment. I did not want this book to end, and I cannot wait to read more from this author!
