This book is like the smut version of saying I only like a little salad with my dressing. Hold the plot, douse with cock.

To smut or not to smut… thats not really a questions this is pure vampire smut from page 1 - and you know this girl got daddy issues bc he sent her to this blood sex dungeon. Ok, i knew this was more smut than plot going into this, so with that in mind i really hated the FMC, she was very naive and reckless (not in a fun badass way), but i loved all the MMCs. The FMC is SO wishy washy, from “oh im so weak” to “im not defenseless i can take care of myself” GIRL no you cant. One minute shes passing out the next shes able to sumo lift bodies… Everything was a little TOO convenient for her, for every problem there was a very quick and non confrontational solution that “magically” appeared. And she has SO much magic that seems like it would be badass AF, but we really dont get to experience it, except maybe 2 pages near the end. This was very predictable and I trudged through slowly like I was walking in the eternal bog of stench. Oh and theres Grace… whos Grace again? It doesnt matter because shes here to serve a very convenient purpose and then gone like the wind - she had potential, tho im not impressed with the description of her book so I may pass on that. 🌶️ 5/5 As for the spice… gawd damn this was spicing hard and early haha. Honestly my rating is more based on the smut than everything else, BC the spice was actually really good, especially the dude on dude action. There were a few scenes that were definitely top tier RH spice. Also on another note i LOATHE the pregnancy trope, it just does not do it for me, and a little over half way thru the book the FMC totally cock blocked my vibe and i struggled with enjoying the spice.

2.5⭐️ In all honesty, I went into this completely blind aside from knowing it was more spice than plot, and while the spice was good, it got boring pretty fast as it kept happening so often (almost every chapter had some spice). I didn’t really like Mina’s character, I guessed a lot of the plot twists, the insta-lust was pretty irritating but I can see why it was needed, the constant references to getting pregnant and then being pregnant pissed me off. I pretty much only finished this because I wanted to know how it played out, it lowkey turned into a hate read.

⭐️⭐️ (2/5 Stars) This book just wasn’t for me. While the premise was intriguing and had so much potential, the execution left me wanting more. I’ve come to realize that Katee Robert’s writing style might not be my favorite. I probably should have DNF-ed halfway instead of pushing through, as it didn’t get better for me. The story leaned heavily on spice and so much so that it overshadowed the plot. The romance felt too instant, and the connections between characters lacked depth. It didn’t help that the structure, originally three novellas turned into one book, made the narrative feel repetitive. While I understand the appeal for those seeking a steamy read, I found myself wishing for more plot and character development. The amount of spicy scenes could’ve been cut in half. If you’re intrigued by the premise but want a more plot-driven alternative, I highly recommend The Bonds That Tie series. It may lack vampires, but it offers a similar theme with richer characters and a far more immersive story.
