Vicious Lost Boys #1

The Never King

Nikki St. Crowe

4.34

For two centuries, all of the Darling women have disappeared on their 18th birthday. Sometimes they're gone for only a day, some a week or a month. But they always return broken.

Now, on the afternoon of my 18th birthday, my mother is running around the house making sure all the windows are barred and the doors locked. But it's pointless. Because when night falls, he comes for me.

And this time, the Never King and the Lost Boys aren't willing to let me go. NOTE: The Never King is a reimagining of Peter and Wendy. Characters have been aged up for this darker, grittier version.

If you like your enemies to lovers romance with hot, ruthless, morally gray love interests, you'll enjoy The Never King and the Lost Boys. You can expect hate kissing, fighting, bickering, and 'touch her and I'll unalive you' vibes. Book one ends on a cliff.....Marketing.

This was such a fun short read. I’m gunna be honest I wasn’t expecting a whole lot of plot out of this and was wondering what was going to happen in order to make it a series regardless of how short each book is. I was pleasantly surprised tho and I love that we get so many different POVs, I am such a sucker for any retelling and the spice in this was good. The audio was good with narrators for each character. Excited to see where we go next.

4/5 ⭐ 4/5 🌶️ 📖 My Thoughts I'm not gonna lie this was actually quite fun and I loved that it was so short! Sometimes really smutty books tend to be too long and I easily get bored. There wasn't a ton of spice like I thought there would be in this first book. The author builds up the tension pretty nicely and gives focus to the story as well. The plot is simple yes, but not terrible. I'm enjoying this dark retelling of Peter Pan and look forward to the next book. Highly recommend the audio as it makes that much more sexy! ⚠️ Triggers Graphic: Ableism, Death, Gore, Sexual content, Violence, Kidnapping, and Murder Moderate: Blood and Injury/Injury detail Minor: Child abuse 🌶️ Spice Ok first, Peter Pan can get it! The tone in this book whether it's the scenery, the characters, the plot, was very sexy overall. Surprisingly, there were only two sex scenes, and again, I'm surprised. I was going into it thinking there would be constant sex as it's a reverse harem but I was wrong. The sexual tension and buildup was nicely done. I will say there is one questionable scene between the brothers but don't think about it too much! 😅

Nov 2024 Reread: The first time i read (or listened) to this (early 2024), i found it pretty jarring with all the voice actors. It was my first audio book but as time has gone on (late 2024), and many audios later, i now have a greater appreciation for the craft that is audio books. On top of that this remains a 4 star read for me. As a dark retelling for Peter Pan, his lost boys and their Darling it is one of the few reverse harems that i actually liked. 🌶️ 4/5 Super hot spice, touch her and die vibes with a heavy dose of sharing is caring lol The voices are hot and the story is short and sweet. bangarang boys... Feb 2024 Review: This was my first audio book I tried - the overall story was interesting for a smutty peter pan retelling. The audio book was hard to follow along at first, but I may of been over multitasking my mind. As it went on I was able to follow along better, but the listening to the different narrators, was a little jarring. The male narrators made the dialog of Winnie sound like she was meek and it was just bad. I would not of read her voice as a shivering weak little girl in my head, she was one of the stronger Darlings and had been through a lot being raised by a mad woman... I think I would of enjoyed this better if it had a single narrator or the dialogs within each chapter narration were consistent.

Each Darling woman, on their 18th birthday, is taken and returned mad. Winnie's mother has been trying to prepare her for what is to come but is mad herself. Winnie isn't even sure if what she's been told is true, until he comes and takes her away. She is taken to Neverland and meets Peter Pan and the Lost Boys. She finds out that she is needed to help Pan find something that was taken from him, and the Darlings are the only ones that can help. Winnie proves that she is different and Pan and the Lost Boys take notice. I really enjoyed this Peter Pan retelling. I look forward to continuing the series.

    I don’t think I’m a dark romance girly, tbh.
