Mr. Wrong Number

Lynn Painter

4.32

Things get textual when a steamy message from a random wrong number turns into an anonymous relationship in this hilarious rom-com by Lynn Painter. Bad luck has always followed Olivia Marshall...or maybe she's just the screw-up her family thinks she is. But when a "What are you wearing?" text from a random wrong number turns into the hottest, most entertaining—albeit anonymous—relationship of her life, she thinks things might be on the upswing....

Colin Beck has always considered Olivia his best friend's annoying little sister, but when she moves in with them after one of her worst runs of luck, he realizes she's turned into an altogether different and sexier distraction. He's sure he can keep his distance, until the moment he discovers she's the irresistible Miss Misdial he's been sort of sexting for weeks—and now he has to decide whether to turn the heat up or ghost her before things get messy.

Olivia has had a hard few weeks. After she finds out her boyfriend was cheating on her and breaks up with her, she decides to purge him from her life. She burns his letters, and in a freak accident, sets her apartment building on fire. She is now in need of a place to stay, so she crashes with her brother and his roommate. When Olivia gets a "what are you wearing?" text from a random number, she sparks up a conversation. She and "Mr. Wrong Number" hit it off and continue their random and flirty conversations. That is until Colin, her brother's best friend, finds out she is his "Miss Misdial" to her "Mr. Wrong Number". I enjoyed this story. I loved the text banter between these two so much. I also loved how Olivia was so unapologetically herself. I also liked how Colin and Olivia both got to really know the other and slowly realized that they were so different than the other thought.

  • I believe this to be my last Lynn Painter read. I give them like 2 months before they break up...loved the concept and a lot of what the plot could have been, had the characters been better developed, had more emotional maturity, and went to therapy.
