They’re murmuring again. Trying to keep their voices low so the prisoner can’t hear. But the prisoner is fifteen feet away, and they are failing.
I wish they would take me out of the room if they need to discuss. Bring me back to the small room I was in this morning. But, of course, they let me stand in this cage in the middle of them. On display.
I pick a spot four feet in front of me and maintain my gaze. I don’t want to look at them and I don’t want to fall asleep. I feel a yawn.
“Mr. Malfoy. Your next witness is here. Are you ready to proceed?”
I almost smile. Do I have a choice?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Favorite line: And maybe I can have both. Maybe it's not betrayal. Maybe they're the same. And I can have them both. She reaches her hand back and slaps my chest again. And I pull her to me, breathing her into my lips, fingers grabbing for her twisted hair. It's the same. She's both of them, and I can have her. She asked me to. And a long-imagined theory blossoms to life when she opens her mouth to let me in. She tastes like coffee and sin. 📖 My Thoughts I LOVED Draco’s POV as it was written in 1st person and he’s so much darker and desperate than Hermione which is exactly how I envision him. I could honestly see myself skipping Hermione’s POV altogether if I reread this. I love that we get just the right amount of information from Draco’s POV and the rest is left to the imagination. His flashbacks were also incredible and went well the story. I’m so excited to read the Auction as the flashbacks are crucial in tying this series together. ⚠️ Trigger Warnings Graphic: Sexual content, Cursing, Bullying Moderate: Sexual assault, Death, Rape Minor: Gore, Sexism, Slavery 🌶️ Spice Ughhh I loved the spice from Draco’s POV. He’s a little sexually depraved but also desperately in love with Hermione, so it’s chef’s kiss. I loved the attention to detail in his POV when it came to the spicy scenes, how infatuated he was with every part of her, how we wanted everything with her all at once. So delicious.

I tandem read this with The Right Thing to Do. I loved getting both POVs of these two and the little differences between them was a lot of fun. Draco was probably my fav POV though, even though a lot of his motivations spilled through unspoken in Hermiones POV - reading his was really what made this story more enjoyable. Honorable mention to Queenie - loved seeing her have a pivotal (yet small) role in this. I didnt realize the POV differences until late into the book (hers being 3rd person and his being 1st), I thought that was an interesting way to do it. 🌶️ I do love a good mutual pine, and the surprise bookstore scene we didn’t get with Hermiones POV. These different angles were great as their own perspectives, but I most def enjoyed his more than hers.
