Out on a Limb
A hot one-night stand—and an unexpected pregnancy—lead a young woman to someone she can depend on, from the viral TikTok author of Next of Kin and Next to You.
“A beautiful love story, full of joy from beginning to end!”—New York Times bestselling author Sarah Adams
AN ELLE BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR
Winnifred “Win” McNulty has always been wildly independent and not one to be coddled for her limb difference. Win has spent most of her life trying to prove that she can do it all on her own. With some minor adjustments, she’s done just fine.
Hooking up at a costume party with the incredibly charming Bo changes everything. Win finds herself pregnant—and decides to keep the baby. While Bo is surprisingly elated to step up to the plate, Win is unsure of whether she can handle this new challenge.
Together, Win and Bo decide to get to know one another as friends and nothing more while they embark on this parenting journey together. But, as they both should know by now, life rarely goes according to plan.

I loved this book so much. The banter in this was top tier, I was laughing on every page right from the start. You just can’t help but immediately love the characters. I know a lot of people are not fans of the pregnancy trope, but honestly I don’t mind it when it’s done right. Seeing two people go from strangers to their own little family always melts my heart. I think even people who don’t love the trope would like this book tho it’s that well done, and the book is about so much more than that. I love the disability representation in this book and the little ways it affects the characters and their outlooks on becoming parents. Especially after reading the authors note and finding out that a lot of the things in this book she borrowed from her own life. Also the author is Canadian and the book is set in Canada which you never see. This is my first book by this author but I will be reading her others. 3/5 🌶️ there weren’t too many spicy scenes but the ones that were included were really well done.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🌶️🌶️🌶️ “You are my soul’s purpose, Win. To know you, to love you, to build a family with you, to spend every day taking care of you, to watch you shine and get all the good things you deserve out of this life.” 💭 My thoughts I'm so glad that I read this book! It reminds me that reading is about opening your perspective to lives that are different from yours. Even though it's a fictional story, I think the author did an amazing job representing disability and what life and love can look like for those who are disabled. I found myself tearing up on more than one occasion, not outright sobbing no because the story is far too heartwarming. Both characters had touching and relatable backstories that had me simultaneously aching and cheering for them. Highly recommend! ⚠️ Trigger warnings Graphic: Pregnancy, Sexual content, Cancer Moderate: Death of parent, Suicide, Ableism Minor: Abortion, Toxic relationship, Emotional abuse 🌶️ Spice The spice was really hot but also meaningful and sweet with how connected the characters were physically and emotionally. Also, it was quite funny at times during some of the scenes and that felt relatable to true life. Nothing is ever perfect even when it's good. The messiness of life is what keeps us striving. This book was an easy, fast read for me. It was a good story with lots of humour, but also some serious moments and great disability representation. Their relationship was so cute, the pining, and how much they truly grew to love one another. The epilogue was super cute too, I love when authors wrap up a story like that!

This was really funny, I had a lot of moments where the banter had me laughing out loud and then some. I really loved the MCs in this and the relationship they built. I am honestly NOT one for the prego trope, but it wasnt really a trope, I guess I mean kinda, but it was a little deeper than that. I will say it got a little slow as it went on, but the story ended nicely. 🌶️ 3/5 The spice was ok in this, i did like the vibe of the characters they were really into each other and you could get a good feel of that in their intimate moments. Its not easy to allow yourself to be vulnerable and it was really cute how beautifully these two accepted each other and embraced things they found to be flawed in themselves.

I just devoured this book in basically one sitting and honestly, I have zero regrets. This storyline was fast-paced, funny, and refreshing to read. The “accidental pregnancy” trope doesn’t really bother me in books, and I thought it really worked for this story—especially with how positive and receptive both of these characters were towards parenthood. It was cute with the perfect amount of angst, and some very real, very thorough and mature conversations. Win and Bo have genuinely some of the best communication skills I’ve ever seen from characters in fiction. I also loved the disability representation so much, especially as someone with my own limb difference. Win’s character growth and acceptance of herself were both very important to me. I really resonated with her goals. I loved this book.
