Scythe & Sparrow
From the #1 New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the genre-breaking international TikTok sensation Butcher & Blackbird comes the final book in the Ruinous Love Trilogy—a friends-with-benefits dark romantic comedy packed with murder, mayhem, and spice. God, I want to kiss her. I want to feel the heat of her lips against mine.
Would she want that? Would she melt against me if she did? Or would the tension I feel between us snap and release something feral inside her?
Inside me? Doctor Fionn Kane is running from a broken heart, one he hopes to mend in small-town Nebraska, far away from his almost-fiancé and his derailed surgical career. It’s a simpler life: head down, hard work, and absolutely no romantic relationships.
He wants none of the circus he left behind in Boston. But then the real circus finds him. Motorcycle performer Rose Evans has spent a decade on the road with the Silveria Circus, and it suits her just fine, especially when she has the urge to indulge in a little murder when she’s not in the spotlight.
But when a kill goes awry and she ends up with an injured leg, Rose finds herself stuck in Nebraska, at the home of the adorably nerdy town doctor. The problem is, not every broken heart can be sewn back together. . . . And the longer you stay in one place, the more likely your ghosts are to catch up.

Rose & Fionn had a great dynamic together. It was pretty unique. I liked Rose more than I thought I would based on seeing her in the first two books. There was a softer and more vulnerable side to her personality than the badass tough as nails circus performer she portrayed previously. Fionn struggles to figure out who he really wants to be (and accept there is some darkness in him). Fionn is introverted, a bit awkward, and unsure of what he wants for his future. He is drawn to Rose and doesn't want to be apart from her. Omg the letters at the end....... loved that so much, best part of the book.

March 14th I’ve finished. I absolutely loved it 🥰 So happy about the epilogue there 🖤 looking forward to that character for sure. I love all these characters and will definitely be picking up some of Weaver’s other books. Looking forward to that. February 3rd… IT’S HERRREEEE!!!! Can’t wait to start reading this… after I’m finished reading one of my current BotM book!!!!!!!!!!!! January 29th… Book of the Month has this as a “New and Recent Add-Ons” and I am ABSOLUTELY LOVING how they have this highlighted as “Not for the faint of heart. This book is… GRUESOME!” January 25th… this week I saw in Brynne’s IG that Book of the Month WILL have this book available!!! So excited because then these trio books will be matching now on my shelf. Also she will be releasing special editions for these other two books, not just B&B. 🖤 It’s January 8th, 2025… I’ve found the playlist on Apple Music for this book!!!!!!!! *“I finally realize I don’t care about the illusion of light anymore. My Rose blooms in the dark. And all I want is to grow there with her.”* What I loved: ✿ vigilante duo for battered women ✿ friends with benefits ✿ dual POV and narration Ta-da! This was a really fun ending to this trilogy even though I read them all pretty far apart and managed to forget some things. I love that all of the characters have their own hobbies, personalities, and flaws. It truly has made this trilogy of chaos such a blast. Highly recommend this series if you can, unlike Dr. Kane, refrain from asking yourself what the fuck you're doing every other paragraph and jump so the show can start! Trigger warnings: Murder, Sexual content, Violence, Domestic abuse, Vomit, Blood, Child abuse, Physical abuse, Animal cruelty [✿ Connect with me on instagram ✿](https://www.instagram.com/literarily_laurynn?igsh=aTh6eTZ6dGwxMXpy&utm_source=qr)

I loved how unique these MCs are from previous books to this one, there was a depth here with a darker plot around assholes abusers that was different than the “dexter” vibes from previous books in this series, but i also feel like it was a “healing” journey, for all the couples in this trilogy. Early on reading: I felt like the “serial” vibes were a little forced, like the FMC just snapped and woke up choose violence, while being physically handicapped… AND inexperienced as fuck to take on people 3 times her size… snapping is totally fine and valid when its like a last straw thing, but I didnt really feel this unfold like that… the FMC was really fucking sloppy about it… and I think it would have impacted more if it was more out of self defense vs vigilante like the other girls. BUT as the book progressed, it made more sense to me WHY Rose snapped like she did when she did and how she did… trust the process. Despite the conflicting emotions from beginning to end with the above, I loved this book, it was funny, and provided different perspectives of the other couples happening the same time as their books and their big events which was SO fun, I havent really read any linked stand alones like that, I feel like these could all be like tandem read together for a new experience. 🌶️ 5/5 The spice in this was fucking HOT and spicing haha, it was a slow burn of course, but I felt like book 2 burned TOO slow and this one hit just right.

I think I liked this one the most out of the whole trilogy. It required much less suspension of disbelief. I loved the chemistry between the leads and the depth of their feelings towards each other. Some very tender scenes. Also liked their character arcs. Spice was milder though. All in all, very fun!

Ta-Da!!!! Insert jazz hands The trilogy was an absolute roller coaster and I'm glad I was here for all of it. L&L was my favorite of the trilogy but Rose's character made this the funniest imo.
