What worked for me: • Malachi - his character was well written, he truly was unhinged, which you felt. You could see how much he was obsessed with Olivia and needed her close. Oddly, I found myself rooting for him. • The plot was decent • The ending • The closeness & sexual attraction between them was well written What didn't work for me: • The whole arranged marriage thing the mother insisted upon made no sense (she was willing to marry off Olivia to abusive ass holes for partnering with the other parents for investing together) Why is Olivia such a prize (this doesn't seem to be big crime families working out deals)? It made no sense in this situation. • The mother paid a f-boy with rich parents 5k to take her daughter's virginity (at the time it seemed like she was 18 when it happened, but later Olivia said she lost her virginity at 16. WTF is wrong with the mother, there was no real reasoning for the mother to be doing crap like this so it made the whole story line unbelievable. Plus, she was all in a hurry to marry Olivia off young at 18, but then letting her wait 8 years more till her stepbrother is out of jail again makes no sense. Oh, and the mother does all this behind the father's back pretty much • What Malachi did to his stepfather made it a lot harder to feel for him; it would have been much better if it were more of a little violence than an accidental fall • Olivia being such a bitch through most of the book
