Such Sharp Teeth

Rachel Harrison

4.42

A young woman in need of a transformation finds herself in touch with the animal inside in this gripping, incisive USA Today bestselling novel from the author of Cackle and The Return.

Rory Morris isn’t thrilled to be moving back to her hometown, even if it is temporary. There are bad memories there. But her twin sister, Scarlett, is pregnant, estranged from the baby’s father, and needs support, so Rory returns to the place she thought she’d put in her rearview. After a night out at a bar where she runs into Ian, an old almost-flame, she hits a large animal with her car. And when she gets out to investigate, she’s attacked.

Rory survives, miraculously, but life begins to look and feel different. She’s unnaturally strong, with an aversion to silver—and suddenly the moon has her in its thrall. She’s changing into someone else—something else, maybe even a monster. But does that mean she’s putting those close to her in danger? Or is embracing the wildness inside of her the key to acceptance?

This darkly comedic love story is a brilliantly layered portrait of trauma, rage, and vulnerability.

“My eyes close, and it’s here. The transcendent knowledge that nothing can touch me. That I’m not in danger, because I am danger.” 💭 My thoughts I love how Rachel compares real-life trauma to being a monster because that's exactly what trauma can feel like. It makes you feel ugly, shameful, scary. Like everything and everyone will run away if and when they learn about this ugly part of you. While this book isn't depressing by any means, there were some heart-breaking and ugly moments for the FMC. But Rachel gives our FMC the strength to show her teeth in the most supernatural way and honestly, dark humor about trauma has never looked better. Please do take caution before reading. ✨ ⚠️ Trigger warnings Graphic: Body horror, Gore, Blood Moderate: Sexual assault, Child abuse, Pedophilia Minor: Death of parent, Infidelity, Car accident [Hunger by Florence & The Machine](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=U6KPgWc4Zlo&si=VwooRdPKPvMaV0M5?igsh=aTh6eTZ6dGwxMXpy&utm_source=qr) [Follow my Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/inkstainedemotions?igsh=aTh6eTZ6dGwxMXpy&utm_source=qr)

This was a little slower than “So Thirsty” - but I really like this authors writing, and will probably pick up more of her stuff later this year. Theres some really beautiful lines in this. I liked the sisters in this, to an extent, and the overcoming of shitty situations for the FMC. 🌶️ 1/5 Theres a good mix of romance and individualism. The spice is kinda vague but its enough to make for an interesting read with the main love interest if you are into romance in books, but its not the main focus.
