God of Pain
From USA Today bestselling author Rina Kent comes a new STANDALONE grumpy sunshine college romance. I made a terrible mistake. Being a mafia princess, I knew my fate was already decided.
But I went ahead and longed for the wrong one. Creighton King is bad news with a gorgeous exterior. He's silent, brooding, and obviously emotionally unavailable.
So I thought it was over. Until he awakens a beast inside me. My name is Annika Volkov, and I'm Creighton's worst enemy.
He won't stop until he breaks me. Or I break him.

3.25 ⭐ I liked this book better than the 1st. I liked the MCs better (especially Annika). There was less college kid angst in this book, thankfully. Creighton inflicted a bit too much pain during most of the sex scenes for me (even though Anni liked it, I wish he were less of a sadist). I did like how jealous/possessive he was of her (even jealous of a gay guy who liked him and a cat); it did provide some necessary humor on occasion. Outside of sex, Creighton was often super sweet and caring towards Annika, like the birthday gifts he gave her, letting her drag him to dates he didn't want to go to, and eating her inedible food and even telling her it was "pretty good". The funniest part of the book is when Adrian makes idle death threats to Yan and even Creigh. Also funny was how Creigh & Adrian bonded on plots on how to get rid of Yan since they are jealous. Creighton's plan to have Annika choose him over her family was ill fated, but at least the result had her father promising not to hurt Creighton The narrators for the audiobook were excellent. They enhanced the story for me. “I lost to you a long time ago. I love you, Annika. I love you to the point I see darkness without you and light only when I’m with you. You’re my sanctuary and the one person who makes me whole.”
