3.5 ⭐️ This book is told in third person and follows a cast of characters as they try to unravel the mystery of young girls being taken seemingly by the spirits with no traces left behind. This book started out a little slow for me, not a lot was happening. We were just getting introduced to the world and we knew that girls were being taken but otherwise nothing much was happening. Halfway in is when it started to pick up and the most information we got the more I wanted to continue with the story to find all the answers. The audiobook definitely saved with for me, there are Scottish accents need I say more. With how slow the beginning was I probably would have DNF this book if I was only reading it, but by the end I was invested and now I need to know how it ends. Not a huge cliffhanger but it does leave you wondering what is going to happen next. 1/5 🌶️ vague closed door scenes

*❝I want to change. But my bones are old, my heart is selfish, my spirit is weary. I look at me and I look at you, and I see two different dreams. I am death. And you, Sidra…You are life.❞* ❥ My thoughts I've been eyeing this series for awhile, a little weary to jump into it because I've heard mixed feelings on Rebecca's books. I enjoyed this so much more than I thought I would. I love when any story starts out with a mystery to solve, and in A River Enchanted you're immediately dumped into the mystery of disappearing girls on the isle of Cadence. The amount of theories I threw into the wind is laughable but I loved how it surpassed my speculations each time. All of the characters are so lovable, flawed, and fiercely loyal. Even though I wasn't in love with the romance aspect for the two main characters, Jack and Adaira; Torin and Sidra really stole my heart. Their love isn't a traditional one, there is a fierce quietness to it that I really respect. The world-building and magic, which are derived from Scottish folklore and mythology, was spectacular and the narrator furthered this with her beautiful Scottish accent. Highly recommend this series if you want a mystery or adventure that is possibly much grander than the love story. ❥ Trigger warnings Kidnapping, Violence, Blood, Death of parent, Death, Injury/Injury detail, Sexual content, Miscarriage, Infertility [❥Connect with me on instagram❥](https://www.instagram.com/inkstainedemotions?igsh=aTh6eTZ6dGwxMXpy&utm_source=qr)

“From your life came mine. I would not exist if you had been born in the east. I am but a verse inspired by your chorus, and I will follow you until the end, when the isle takes my bones and my name is nothing more than a remembrance on a headstone, next to yours.” Its possible I was not in the mood for cozy fantasy when I read this. It was really slow for me, I would still be interested in reading the 2nd book, I am curious where the story is going and I hear book 2 is better. The narrator was great, love the Scottish accent. It took me quite a while to get into this, probably 70%… but when things started to unravel a bit it picked up and I decided to keep going. 🌶️1/5 There is romance, not really spicy.
