This was an interesting paranormal story featuring a demon who was surprisingly not as cruel or evil as one might expect. Leon was hot, sexy, and could be tender, caring, possessive, and loving as well. I absolutely loved Leon. His longing for someone to love and for him to be loved in return was evident. You could feel their chemistry & their desire for each other. Leon was willing to die to protect her and keep her safe; you felt his love & devotion to her. I wish Raelynn wasn't so dumb; if it wasn't for Leon's protection, she would have been dead numerous times over. He even risked his life to save her cat (partially because he knew she would be stupid enough to run out there). Even Zane commented, “Fucking hell, Leon wasn’t lying about you being a chore to keep alive." I look forward to reading the other two books in the series. “You’re a light in the dark, and I’ve been in the dark a very long time.” “Does it frighten you, to be so desired? I went back and forth on rating this one but I enjoyed it and curious to read the next 2, so giving it 3.5 rounding up. 🌶️ 5/5 Super steamy, and while I loved the audio and narrators sometimes I find myself wishing I had read the spice without the audiobook lol

3 stars for Leon because I love him and he carries this story. The plot ended up falling flat for me. It felt like a very entry level demon storyline. The plot didn’t pick up until the last 40% but it felt very rushed and predictable. My other issue with this was our FMC Rae. She has officially made the list of my least favorite FMC’s. She says at one point she’s “too special to die.” I mean, really? By the halfway point I just couldn’t care less whether she survived or not. I still plan on reading the other books in this trilogy since I’ve heard they are a lot better.
