My new next-door neighbor seems to have everything figured out. Small town golden boy? Check. Single dad extraordinaire? Check. Hot baker forearms? I didn’t notice them, I swear.
I, on the other hand, don’t–at all–have anything figured out. Trust me, I didn’t think taking over my mom’s dream bed and breakfast in Copper Run Vermont was going to be easy. It should be a good place to heal after my divorce. But apparently my scones belong in the garbage with my small talk skills. As pointed out by none other than Cliff.
Cliff is inescapable. He knows exactly what people need–always. His charm, the way he wears flannel, and even his pastries, make not wanting to be friends with Cliff and his daughters pretty hard.
Friends? I can make friends. That’s safe. Except I’m leaving in three months to pass the inn off to my little sister and get the promotion in Seattle I’ve been working towards. So ask me why I’m thinking about kissing my hot neighbor.

I went into this book just expecting cute small town 90s vibes, and a hot single dad. This delivered that and so much more. This was such a heartfelt book it definitely had me shedding some tears. I loved all of the characters in this book and we got so much more than just a romance between the MCs. Starting with Emily and Brittany they were the sweetest little girls ever and they had my heart absolutely breaking for them. But seeing Cliff be the best dad ever and watching their relationship with Michelle grow was everything. CLIFF. The man that you are. Completely wrapped around his daughter’s fingers and would do absolutely anything for them while being a small town baker and helping his new neighbour however he can. Where do I get one? Michelle was so very stubborn. But I loved her so much and seeing her character development and watching her grow and find happiness throughout the story was everything. Side note obsessed with her conversations with her dog, it made the book feel even more real and relatable to me. I am constantly having conversations with my pets. ROCKET. This adorable dog stole the show. Also had me FULL ON SOBBING AT THE END. Don’t worry guys no dogs were harmed in the making of this story I’m just an absolute sap. 10/10 I definitely recommend this book especially for the fall season.

The perfect nostalgic fall read. Love how this is set in the 90s, it's so entertaining to take a walk down memory lane with landlines and portable CD players. I really enjoyed the slow burn of this and the characters, especially Rocket, the assumed inner monologues from him were great. It had some cozy Gilmore Girls vibes with the small town baker, and the FMC running a little bed and breakfast, but also some heavier topics with family dynamics, and loss. Overall I enjoyed this. 🌶️ 2/5 Slow burn with a few spicy scenes, great build up with the MCs that make it all worth the wait.
