This was pretty good, loved the parallels with the FMC and her Pa and the characters were all well written. The new title is for sure fitting lol The story had a really great lyrical flow to it and I enjoyed the exploration of sacrifices people make to achieve their dreams, save the ones they love, and what it costs to protect the people in life we hold so dear, or what would you give up to have something priceless. I think at first the FMC comes off as a little selfish, but as the story unravels she really came into her own and while there were some things that were predicable I still really enjoyed this. 🌶️ 2/5

3.75 ⭐rounded up This hit me harder than I expected since my grandma is struggling with dementia. Watching memories and identity slip away from the ones we love is so hard to accept, and this captured that heartache in a way that really stayed with me. At times, the prose felt a bit too flowery for my taste, but the emotional weight still landed.
