First-Time Caller
INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
A hopeless romantic meets a jaded radio host in this cozy, Sleepless in Seattle–inspired love story from beloved author B.K. Borison.
Aiden Valentine has a secret: he’s fallen out of love with love. And as the host of Baltimore’s romance hotline, that’s a bit of a problem. But when a young girl calls in to the station asking for dating advice for her mom, the interview goes viral, thrusting Aiden and Heartstrings into the limelight.
Lucie Stone thought she was doing just fine. She has a good job; an incredible family; and a smart, slightly devious kid. But when all of Baltimore is suddenly scrutinizing her love life—or lack thereof—she begins to question if she’s as happy as she believed. Maybe a little more romance wouldn’t be such a bad thing.
Everyone wants Lucie to find her happy ending…even the handsome, temperamental man calling the shots. But when sparks start to fly behind the scenes, Lucie must make the final decision between the radio-sponsored happily ever after or the man in the headphones next to her.

This was a reread and I loved it just as much if not even more than I did the first time I read it. Everything about this book and this couple was amazing. Honestly my favourite contemporary romance. The little snippets of radio conversations in between chapters was such a cute edition as well. Now onto “And back to you” which I’ve been highly anticipating since it was first announced.

This started out with a lot of promise, single mom, daughter pushing her to get back out there and meet someone after being super mom for 10 years… The idea of this was really fun, radio show host falls for a caller, but I have to be honest that halfway through and even more so in the last 15% I was a little annoyed with these MCs… It was like the problems that came up could have been avoided and not forced for the plot/drama. That being said - I will absolutely be reading more from this author, the narrators were solid and the writing was really well done. I am a sucker for a romcom so I would say this is a solid 3.5 rounded down. It wasnt bad, and I really enjoyed reading it. 🌶️ 2/5 - Spice was fine, there was definitely tension between these two, not the hottest I’ve read, but it worked for the story. I did feel like the MMC had a confidence about him and then randomly it kinda fell off…

I was sucked into this book by the Sleepless in Seattle vibes, and this book absolutely delivered. It was cozy, sweet, funny, and full of heart in all the right places. One of my favorite parts was the family dynamic between Lucie, Grayson, and their daughter—it felt so healthy and genuine, and it was refreshing to see such a solid, supportive relationship at the center of the story. I also loved that Lucy was a mechanic. We don’t get nearly enough representation of women in male-dominated jobs, and she owned that role with such quiet confidence. Every single character in this book was lovable, and the chemistry between Aiden and Lucie? Off. The. Charts. Their relationship development was slow and steady in the best way—natural, believable, and deeply romantic. The “vulnerable late at night” vibe added a layer of intimacy that just worked. And don’t even get me started on the restaurant rescue scene—it made me MELT. B.K. Borison captured the feeling of falling in love so perfectly. I laughed, I swooned, and I closed the book with a full heart. My only tiny complaint? I wish it had been just a bit shorter—but honestly, I enjoyed spending time with these characters so much, I didn’t really mind. This one’s for anyone who loves slow-burn romance, cozy vibes, and the kind of chemistry that builds through late-night conversations and quiet moments.

I was really excited for First-Time Caller, but it didn’t quite live up to my expectations. The premise was adorable, and the beginning was wholesome and fun. However, the story was very character-driven with little plot or drama, and when conflicts did arise, they were resolved so quickly that they felt unnecessary. I usually love B.K. Borison’s sarcastic writing, but this time, I lost interest as the book went on. The spicy scenes toward the end also felt oddly placed and too long, making the pacing feel off. I really wanted to love this, but unfortunately, it just didn’t click for me.
