Mate
The instant #1 New York Times bestseller! A Human hybrid and an Alpha Were claw against the bonds of fate in the highly anticipated companion novel to the New York Times bestselling Bride. Serena Paris is orphaned, pack-less, and one of a kind.
Coming forward as the first Human-Were hybrid was supposed to heal a centuries-long rift between species. Instead, it made her a target, prey to the ruthless political machinations between Weres, Vampyres, and Humans. With her enemies closing in on her, she has only one option left—if he’ll have her.
As Alpha of the Northwest pack, Koen Alexander commands obedience. His authority is so absolute, only a fool would threaten his mate. It doesn’t matter if Serena doesn’t reciprocate his feelings, nothing will stop him from keeping her safe.
But power-hungry Vampyres and Weres are not the only threats chasing Serena. Sooner or later, her past is bound to catch up with her—and Koen might be the only thing standing between her and total annihilation…

4.5⭐️ This was Bride, but better. I absolutely loved the characters in this, Serena and Koen were perfect and their banter was EVERYTHING.

4.5 ⭐️ I loved this even more than Mate. This is my favourite Ali book, I enjoy her paranormal stuff a lot more than her contemporary romances. The best part of this for me was once again the Koen bits at the beginning of every chapter. I knew she was going into heat the whole time so it was so funny to see her think that she was dying 🤣🤣. Overall I enjoyed this one and I hope she keeps dabbling in paranormal romance.

*✨ 5 stars ✨* Pre-read thoughts: This has been on my libby holds for awhile and it's finally time! Serena Paris is the first Human-Were hybrid, but instead of helping unite the species, she becomes a target caught in the middle of dangerous political tensions between Humans, Weres, and Vampyres. With enemies closing in and nowhere else to turn, she’s forced to rely on Koen Alexander, the powerful Alpha of the Northwest pack. Koen is fiercely protective, extremely possessive, and absolutely determined to keep Serena safe, whether she accepts him or knot. But as threats from both Serena’s past and the supernatural world grow more dangerous, the two are pulled deeper into a deadly conflict that could destroy them both. I wasn't sure if I was going to love this more than Bride. Bride had a pretty major miscommunication trope that knocked it down to 4 stars for me -- so I went into Mate a little nervous, but ended up loving this one even more! I'm already drawn to paranormal romances just because they're paranormal, and Ali's writing style works perfectly for the genre. She writes banter and tension incredibly well, and the chemistry between the characters felt effortless. The flirting, the possessiveness, the longing... the dynamics scratched the exact spot in my brain. I also think the paranormal elements made the emotional connection hit even harder. The Were aspects of the romance added a level of intensity and devotion to the relationship that I completely ate up. Ali has a way of making her romances feel fun and addictive while still weaving in emotional moments that make you genuinely attached to the characters. There were definitely emotional points throughout the story, but knot to the point where I was crying, which is usually what pushes a book into 5-star territory for me. Still, this completely rewired my brain chemistry when it comes to Were romances. I'm genuinely obsessed with this series now and desperately need more paranormal romances with this kind of dynamic in my life. This was just as good as bride. There were some moments where I felt not much was happening, or we had a really long build up to "something" happening, but I am a big fan of this author and love her branching out into more paranormal stuff. I still prefer her women in STEM books, but this was a fun change of pace.

I loved this book so much. The story was so good, it had me hooked from the very start, and I adored the characters. The narration was fabulous. I am still reeling from how much I enjoyed this, I devoured it and would happily listen to it all over again.
