Heat of the Everflame
The war has begun. Both sides demand Diem's allegiance—or her death.
After her disastrous coronation, Diem finds herself at the center of the conflict between the Descended and the Guardians. With her newfound friends and the man she's falling for on one side, and the mortals she has vowed to protect on the other, Diem must walk a careful line to save the people she loves… even from each other.
The mystery of her unusual heritage begins to unravel, sending Diem and Luther on an unexpected journey across the realms. The answers may hold the key to winning the war, but finding them will require her to face painful truths about her mother, her bloodline, and her fate.
Meanwhile, the Crowns have set Diem in their sights. Some could be her greatest allies—while others want her dead. To end their oppressive reign, Diem must sort friend from foe and risk it all to build an army of her own.
But a powerful figure in the north has plans that could change everything...
Heat of the Everflame is the third book in The Kindred's Curse Saga, a four-book epic fantasy romance series that follows our feisty, bad*ss heroine Diem Bellator in her fight against injustice, her struggle to survive in a royal palace full of betrayal and intrigue, and her journey of self-discovery and finding true love.
This slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers series is perfect for fans of unique magic systems, dragons and other mythical creatures, angst and romantic tension, and hilarious banter. This series will appeal to fans of plot-heavy, character-driven romantasy such as A Court of Thorns and Roses, Throne of Glass, Blood and Ash, The Plated Prisoner, Grisha, and Crowns of Nyaxia.

Fuck... I am just so crushed... my anxiety has anxiety from this ending OMG! I'm even more devastated I have to wait for the next book... This was a fucking roller coaster of feels... This series is SO good. I don't know what any of you haters are talking about when it comes to "character growth" - Diem is it... BUT... yes she was a little questionable at the end, I nearly RAGE threw my ereader... And Luther... ugh, swoon! 🌶️ 2/5 - There is SO much tension in this one... but the plot is SO good I don't even mind that it's not super spicy and cock blocks you at every turn... haha but when the spice starts spicing... oof fuck... it's worth the wait.

So I got way too stuck into this to remember to make notes. But overall thoughts are (jumbled and in no particular order because this is how they popped into my head) Firstly, thank god! 3 books of complete slow burn tension, and we finally got what we all wanted! Secondly *ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! First her freaking father is some freaky descended like she is (because of course he is), but he's also helping the guardians?! Not only that, her mother thought she killed him because he 'was trying to kill her' but really he just needed her blood to free him (which just happened 20+ years later instead) But also she has multiple crowns. *But she has all the powers too, and curse Doriel for their trickery. I adored Umbros for not actually voting until Doriel revealed their plan, very well played. But also RIP. So she gets forced to trap herself on the island, and they threaten Teller. The same island her dad was trapped on?! And she's some kind of 10th Kindred???, and then she gets stabbed!! With *GODSTONE *Freaking Ignios. How did he survive being on the island though?! Poor Perth. Such a good guy. Poor Teller having to choose between him and Luther 😭 And freaking Remis is an a-hole. God he makes me so mad. Such a self righteous pos. I really need Luther to kick his ass for everything he did to him, and everyone else. She really needs to stop with the whole guilt thing over every single thing too. I mean don't get me wrong, not a chance I'd be doing any of the unaliving myself, but she's a freaking queen and she neds to GET 👏 IT 👏 TOGETHER 👏 I felt so bad for Alixe and Taran being left behind for the last chunk of the book, and for Alixe having to be the Head of the Guard and go against Diem because we all know it hurt her to do it. Go Taran finding someone for yourself. And playing a drinking game by himself in Umbros. Speaking of Umbros, good god that man gave me the creeps. I've completely forgotten his name, but everyone knows exactly who I mean. Ew. And Luther the big hunk that he is. I listened to the audiobook, and let me tell you! The level of giddy I got to at Ch 70 when the male narrator made his appearance. I had entirely forgotten there was even a male narrator in this thing because it's 34 hours long for crying out loud 😂 I don't look at the covers once I've started them so I just forgot. But I loved his POV so much, not just for the adoration of Diem, but his pov of the battle on Sophos was such a good change. Sorae deserves everything all of the time. Any harm comes to her, I riot Overall, I struggled with this in parts because it was such a chonky book. I love a chonky book, but there was so much going on that at times I just wanted to get to the end because I wanted it over. But then I got so many parts where I wanted to get to the end because I needed to know what was going to happen. Despite my 'lackluster love in parts' it's a solid 4.5 ⭐ rating.
