The Knight and the Moth
INSTANT #1 NEW YORKTIMES BESTSELLER!
From New York Times bestselling author Rachel Gillig comes a sensational romantasy, a gothic, mist-cloaked tale of a young prophetess forced on an impossible quest with the one knight whose future is beyond her sight.
"Prepare to meet your next obsession." — Rebecca Ross, author of Divine Rivals
Sybil Delling has spent nine years dreaming of having no dreams at all. Like the other foundling girls who traded a decade of service for a home in the great cathedral, Sybil is a Diviner. In her dreams she receives visions from six unearthly figures known as Omens. From them, she can predict terrible things before they occur, and lords and common folk alike travel across the kingdom of Traum’s windswept moors to learn their futures by her dreams.
Just as she and her sister Diviners near the end of their service, a mysterious knight arrives at the cathedral. Rude, heretical, and devilishly handsome, the knight Rodrick has no respect for Sybil's visions. But when Sybil's fellow Diviners begin to vanish one by one, she has no choice but to seek his help in finding them. For the world outside the cathedral’s cloister is wrought with peril. Only the gods have the answers she is seeking, and as much as she'd rather avoid Rodrick's dark eyes and sharp tongue, only a heretic can defeat a god.

“You know this story, Bartholomew, though you do not remember it. I’ll tell it to you as best I can and promise to be honest in my talebearing. If I’m not, that’s hardly my fault. To tell a story is in some part to tell a lie, isn’t it? ~~ Reread: The way this is even better the second time around. I’m so utterly unwell and in love with this book and these characters. I can’t wait to start the Knave and the Moon tomorrow and have Gillig destroy me once again. I am once again blown away by the beauty that is Rachel Gillig’s writing. I don’t even have the words. The poetic nature of her writing is so stunningly beautiful and I cannot get enough of it. I need 20 more please. The beginning of the book was a little slower but I still adored it, especially thanks to the gargoyle for making me laugh on every page. This book had me giggling and kicking my feet on one page and then full on sobbing the next. I need the second book right now because I truly don’t know what I am supposed to do with myself now that I have finished. I have seen a lot of people say the only good thing about this book is the gargoyle (and while he is one of the funniest and sweetest characters ever and I love him with my whole entire being) but I adored all the other characters as well and the banter between all the characters and the main couple was so good. If you need me I’ll be contemplating the meaning of life until there is news on book two.

Rachel always delivers an atmospheric fantasy with a unique magic system. I adored all of the characters so much. Sybil’s character growth was so well done, and her chemistry with Rory was off the charts. The plot didn’t fully grip me and the ending was a bit predictable but I overall really enjoyed this!

I never thought a gargoyle would be my favorite character in a book but here we are. {im}patiently waiting for the next book in this series!

The last 100 pages increased my rating. Before that, I enjoyed the book but that is it. I enjoyed it. I wasn't dying to read it or really thinking about what could happen next. I was interested but not invested. I feel like the side characters had more to them than the main characters but I did enjoy Six's growth. I feel like this book is appropriately hyped or if anything, over-hyped. However it is not badly written, I just felt there was something missing. If you love found family, a loveable sidekick and a "bad boy" MMC, this is an ideal book for you.
