Throne of Glass #6

Tower of Dawn

Sarah J. Maas

4.76

A glorious empire. A desperate quest. An ancient secret.

The search for allies extends to a new land in the sixth book in this complete, #1 bestselling Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas, author of the Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) series.

Chaol Westfall and Nesryn Faliq have arrived in the shining city of Antica to forge an alliance with the Khagan of the Southern Continent, whose vast armies are Erilea's last hope. But they have also come to Antica for another purpose: to seek healing at the famed Torre Cesme for the wounds Chaol received in Rifthold.

After enduring unspeakable horrors as a child at the hands of Adarlanian soldiers, Yrene Towers has no desire to help the young lord from Adarlan, let alone heal him. Yet she has sworn an oath to assist those in need, and she will honor it. But Lord Westfall carries his own dark past, and Yrene soon realizes that those shadows could engulf them both.

Chaol, Nesryn, and Yrene will have to draw on every scrap of their resilience to overcome the danger that surrounds them. But while they become entangled in the political webs of the khaganate, long-awaited answers slumber deep in the mountains, where warriors soar on legendary ruks. Answers that might offer their world a chance at survival or doom them all.

The final battle looms in this sixth book in the #1 bestselling Throne of Glass series.

EDIT: I still enjoyed this this time. A lot actually. Nesryn & Sartaq still hold a special place in my heart, and I truly loved every interaction they had in this book. It kills me that we don't know what they're up to after Kingdom of Ash. Sigh. Maybe one day. This book has yet again redeemed Chaol for me. And Yrene is still amazing. I think it's a 4.5/5 this time though. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ EDIT: Y'all I think I might've enjoyed this even more this time 😭. Like, I genuinely loved everything about this even more than I did the first time. I still love Nesryn & Sartaq, and Chaol & Yrene grew higher on my couple ranking this time. I'm actually taking my rating up to a 5 star, and the Chaol haters can suck it. 😗✌🏻 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I have absolutely no words for this book. I didn’t think that I’d like it. At all. However, after reading 660 pages of a book from Chaol, Nesryn, and Yrene’s POV, I’ve changed my mind. This was, by far, one of my favorites from this series, which surprises me more than anything. I could tell that I’d love Chaol and Yrene from the moment they met; Nesryn and Sartaq too. They deserve everything. I’m praying we get more of *allKingdom of Ash* because I NEED** more of them ☺️. I really enjoyed the plot in this more than I thought I would. I think it was really well-written. I almost threw the book when Demon-Duva broke his spine again. I genuinely thought it was over. Anyway, I give it 4.75/5 stars, and I’ll read it again when I do a re-read.

So I read this as a tandem (EOS & TOD together) - but to separate my thoughts this is only about TOD. TOD is mainly, Nesryn, Yrene & Chaols story and healing process from everything fucked up thats happened in a new kingdom where he & Nesryn are trying to get allies for Dorian/Aelin. And I know he starts out with 1 love interest kinda, but I never really got “sparks” from them - so when he bonds with someone else in his healing process (that also goes back to AB) - I was here for it, and loved every second of their banter. I also loved the tie backs from AB, I have been waiting for this. I think this was beautifully done, a little slower than the other books (on its own) - but i really enjoyed the breaks from chaos reading in a tandem. 🌶️ 2/5 The spice kicks up a bit (FINALLY). Its nice to see these characters fall in love and the sheets. Even though the spice is not super descriptive, but its sexy, sweet, and tasteful from a YA perspective.

Once again, incredible. I fell in love with the worldbuilding and the vast descriptions of the Torre and the khaganate. Antica as a whole is just beautiful and rich in culture. Chaol’s character development here is wonderful, his dynamic with Yrene complex and fitting. I really liked Nesryn’s story here too, though as a whole, she’s still not a favorite character of mine. This tandem-read was perfectly crafted. The plot is gripping, the stakes as high as ever, and I loved watching everything come together in what will surely be a brutal ending.
