Be careful what you witch for.
Welcome to year two at Weatherstone College…
Last year, after coming face to face with darkness and lethal monsters, Logan Kingston, my sworn enemy and sometimes ally, brought my first year to an explosive ending. There’s a bond between us that I can’t explain, but I just know he’s hiding something. Maybe I don’t fully trust any spellcaster, but there’s no denying my draw to him.
I’m not going to lie, I haven’t felt myself since then, and I’m dreading returning to Weatherstone. But secrets inevitably unravel, and when the truth comes to light, I have no idea who will be left standing.

I want to start by saying I loved book 1 in this series. This was an entertaining read but I struggled with a huge part of the story, Paisley and Logan's relationship. I was fortunate enough to do an immersive read with the ebook and audiobook. I enjoyed the duet narration so much and it helped to bring it alive more. In the first book, these two genuinely seemed to hate each other so I expected this book to spend time building that transition into something more. Instead, it felt like one minute they were enemies, and the next there was possessiveness, attraction, and feelings that didn't feel earned or justified. The book even acknowledges how strange the shift is: “This possessive side feels weird,” I admitted, my heartbeat slamming against my chest. And fucking amazing. “After last year.” Unfortunately, that was exactly how I felt while reading. I kept waiting for the missing connection that would make me believe in their chemistry but it never quite clicked for me. Overall, this was a solid read with an interesting world and plenty of intrigue, but the relationship at the center of the story felt like it skipped a few important chapters along the way. That said, I still enjoyed the worldbuilding, magic, and supernatural elements. Thanks to NetGalley and the author for an eARC and ALC!
