EDIT: Genuinely did not realize how long it'd been since I reread this, omg. I also didn't realize I'd only re-read it once before now. That's actually insane. Anyways, I listened to the full-cast edition with this one, and it somehow hurt even more. Not sure when I'll read this again, but I did in fact still love it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Uh- ouch. Just ow. I remember why I stopped reading this for so long. I didn't want to sob again at 6:00 A.M., and I ended up doing just that. This book was a roller coaster of emotions, and hurt like hell. I freaking HATE Delores Jane Umbridge. I hate her more that Voldemort himself. Ohhh and don't even get me started on Bellatrix Lestrange. Reading her kill Sirius hurt more this time than last time (thank you fanfic 🥲), and this is one of the main deaths I won't ever forgive JKR for. For as long as I may live, she'll never be forgiven for the death of Sirius Black. Sirius is one of my all-time favorite characters in Harry Potter, and just flipping ow. I give this book 5/5 whole stars, I highly recommend it, but I think the next time I re-read the series, this is going to be one I skip.

*✨ 5 stars ✨* Have you ever read a book that hit you hardest after you closed it? Like a little part of you was taken when you finished? That was this book for me. It’s Harry’s fifth year at Hogwarts, and all he truly wants, as a fifteen-year-old wizard, is for the wizarding world to go back to normal. No one seems to believe that Voldemort is back, Dumbledore is avoiding him, the adults closest to him are keeping him in the dark even though he’s at the center of it all, he’s having strange dreams, and a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher—undoubtedly the worst one yet—is making matters even worse. As tensions rise and danger lurks ever closer, Harry has to decide between being the hero and simply being a kid. This is quite possibly my favorite book in the series so far, but I still have two books to go, so we shall see. I think I’ve said it before, but reading this as a 30-year-old adult hits very differently than it would have as a child. As an adult, I have a perspective that makes my heart ache for Harry and the immense challenges he is forced to face at such a young age. But even with all of its poignant themes and emotional writing, there is so much hope and light in these stories that make your adult heart feel like a child again. It’s quite beautiful. As always, each character feels incredibly well-rounded in their own unique way, and the new creatures are exciting and full of life. I loved getting more backstory on beloved—and not-so-beloved—characters, as well as discovering little surprises that weren’t included in the movies. I’m so excited to continue my journey through the world of Harry Potter. [Find my reviews on Bookstagram🫶🏻](https://www.instagram.com/literarily_laurynn?igsh=aTh6eTZ6dGwxMXpy&utm_source=qr)
