A Court of Thorns and Roses #5

A Court of Silver Flames

Sarah J. Maas

4.73

Sarah J. Maas's sexy, richly imagined Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) series continues with the journey of Feyre's fiery sister, Nesta.

Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Worse, she can't seem to move past the horrors of the war with Hybern and all she lost in it.

The one person who ignites her temper more than any other is Cassian, the battle-scarred warrior whose position in Rhysand and Feyre's Night Court keeps him constantly in Nesta's orbit. But her temper isn't the only thing Cassian ignites. The fire between them is undeniable, and only burns hotter as they are forced into close quarters with each other.

Meanwhile, the treacherous human queens who returned to the Continent during the last war have forged a dangerous new alliance, threatening the fragile peace that has settled over the realms. And the key to halting them might very well rely on Cassian and Nesta facing their haunting pasts.

Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance-and healing-in each other's arms.

The Court of Thorns and Roses series includes:

I don’t know where to even start with this book. I officially love Nesta. After finally completing this book, I can officially say that Nesta is one of the characters I relate to the most. I hold nothing but love for her in my heart. I think this is probably one of my favorite books of the year, and one of the best in this series. I love Cassian. Just - y e a h. I loved the plot in this book. I was really excited to see more of Feyre and Rhys, and this didn’t disappoint. I also loved the plot line with Eris. It might be one of my favorites 🤭. I really hope he gets a redemption sometime. I actually shed tears when Feyre was dying and at Emerie and Gwyn’s backstories. They’re two of my favorite book characters of all time. Nesta, Gwyn, and Emerie’s friendship means so much to me. I’m really excited for the next book (whenever that may be), and I can’t wait for it. Overall, I give this book 5/5 stars, a (maybe) temporary spot on the Hall of Fame shelf, and I definitely recommend it.

I enjoyed Nesta’s growth and her storyline immensely but I have to admit that the book felt like the author crammed it all in, rushed the ending, and yet it was needlessly long?

I really enjoyed this book! I think I really resonated with Nesta, going through really tough times and struggling with your mental health is something I think we all go through as well. I think it was beautifully written. Learning to grief and deal with guilt can be so hard. She got to learn so much about herself and her abilities. I loved how much she learned and grew as a person. It is shown so many ways in the book. The highs and lows, falling in love and so much more. I also love the chosen family dynamics, and bonding with her real family after fighting. Gwyn and Emerie are amazing fries to Nesta who understand her and they show her unconditional love. I also enjoyed learning more about Cassian, and his story. He is well written, flaws and all. And truly showed Nesta she can be loved unconditionally and deserves more than she thought she did. They became each other’s safe space and it was beautiful.

Im sure Im not alone here but... I wasnt a fan of Nesta in some of the earlier books, but I will admit that after getting through the beginning I started to like her more and more. Her determination after such a rough go of it was very wishy washy, but with the right motivation she gets there. Shes not like her sister when it comes to gettin it on, and knows what she wants/needs. So grab onto that headboard and dont skip out on this one, its good and the spice is spicing.
