Empire of Storms
Only the greatest sacrifice can turn the tide of war.
War is brewing in the fifth book in this complete, #1 bestselling Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas, author of the Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) series.
The long path to the throne has only just begun for Aelin Galathynius as war looms on the horizon. Loyalties have been broken and bought, friends have been lost and gained, and those who possess magic find themselves increasingly at odds with those who don't.
With her heart sworn to the warrior-prince by her side and her fealty pledged to the people she is determined to save, Aelin will delve into the depths of her power to protect those she loves. But as monsters emerge from the horrors of the past, dark forces stand poised to claim her world. The only chance for salvation lies in a desperate quest that may take more from Aelin than she has to give, a quest that forces her to choose what-and who-she's willing to sacrifice for the sake of peace.
Kingdoms collide in this fifth book in the #1 bestselling Throne of Glass series.

EDIT: I can't believe I've only read this three times. I keep thinking it's more than that, but apparently not. Anyways, this one still hurt. Very much so. All of the Elorcan snippets in this hurt because I know how long they go in Kingdom of Ash hating each other. Anyways, still a 5/5 for me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ EDIT: I'm still just as speechless as I was the very first time I read this. However, now that I've finished the series once before and I know what's coming, I'm dreading the Kingdom of Ash read 🥲. But I absolutely still loved this, and it's still one of my favorites. Easily a 5/5 stars for me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Wow. I’m speechless. This book was incredible. It might’ve taken six months to read, but damnit, it was worth it. As much as I hate to admit it, it might’ve overtaken my favorite book in this series from The Assassin’s Blade. Don’t get me wrong; I still love TAB, but this one takes the cake. I absolutely loved everything about this book. I love every single character so much. Elide and Lorcan deserve everything. They’re my babies, and I love them. I was really hoping Aedion and Lysandra would pull through till the end of this. Hopefully everything will be fixed by Kingdom of Ash. This series is becoming a favorite as I go. I love everything about it. DORIAN AND MANON >>>. I love them so much. I really hope Aelin doesn’t lose her powers. That’ll be so fucking horrible. Fireheart would lose all its meaning 🥲. This book made me cry so many times, and I love it for that. This is definitely one of my favorite books I read this year, so thank you SJM. Overall, I give it 5/5 stars (more if I could), Hall of Fame shelf, and I’ll eventually read it again.

5 GOD DAMN STARS what a ride, my god, an absolutely incredible book. Trust in SJM because she fucking knows. This is coming from someone who wanted to DNF through the first 4 books, it was worth every single minute.

I read this as a tandem (EOS & TOD together) - but to separate my thoughts this is only about EOS. This story follows the MFC and her wild band of princes, friends, and whoever shes collected along the way lol. I love her badassery, and the long cons she pulls to make shit fall together. I loved the utter surprise when everyone around her realizes this, and they fall even more in love and in awe with her because of it - while also being pretty pissed. The banter is great, but this was heavy near the end, so I had to pace myself and grind through. Highly recommend reading this tandem with TOD, its sets up the final book perfectly. 🌶️ 2/5 FINALLY - the spice kicks up a notch. Obviously Im always down for “more” spice and this lacked a bit in that area, but it is a YA series, so I get it. It seems like everybody coupled up quickly once the boulder was pushed down the hill…

I am in tears. Say what you will about this woman, but she knows how to write a story. The use of dramatic irony is expertly applied here, especially if you participate in the tandem read as I have. We become aware of the evil earlier, but are forced to watch in real time as our beloved characters encounter it and realize with gut-wrenching, heart-stopping clarity how much more is at stake. We root for them as they overcome impossibilities, cry for them as tragedy persists… Incredible.
