The Knave and the Moon
New ReleaseINSTANT #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER!
Rachel Gillig, the queen of gothic romantasy, returns with higher stakes, darker mysteries, and deeper longings in this gorgeous sequel to the #1 New York Times bestselling sensation The Knight and the Moth.
Aisling Cathedral is in ruins. Rodrick Myndacious, Bartholomew, and Maude Bauer are rumored to be dead—and the king has taken Sybil Delling as his bride. To show off their union and solidify his power over Traum, Benji proposes a series of tournaments throughout the hamlets. Captive and drugged, Sybil remains determined to vanquish him as she once did the Omens, even if she destroys the kingdom’s faith—and herself—in the process.
But then a mysterious knave rises to the top of the tournament lists, a man with no name and no memory who may just be Sybil’s ticket to undoing Benji’s power. For in a land where stories repeat themselves, where a king can prove as cruel as a god, the only way to truly destroy the Stonewater Kingdom’s faith is to save it.
"The Knight and the Moth delivers pure joy. Simply stunning."―Alix E. Harrow, #1 New York Times bestselling author

MA'AM!! Why do you enjoy emotionally wrecking your readers?! Are you fueled solely on the tears of distraught fans?? I have far too many thoughts and feelings to put here so I'll make a list of the top three. 1) Everything with Bartholomew. I was unwell through all of it. 2) Maude Bauer. I will never forgive you miss author for that. 3) And finally, they love each other 🥹 I'm sad it's over but I'm glad I took the journey.

Review to come when I am feeling human again but wow that was absolutely incredible. I absolutely adore anything Rachel writes, I do need therapy after this but 100/10 would do it again. My new favourite duology. I don’t even have words right now. This was so utterly breathtaking and beautiful and heart wrenching. I love Rachel Gillig’s writing so much, it is so poetic and beautiful. The imagery is so well done that you are immediately immersed into the world. This was honestly the perfect conclusion to this duology. It broke my heart into a million pieces and then put them back together again. I am truly a changed person after reading this. I love Sybil and Rory and Bartholomew so much I can’t believe that our time with them is done. The audio was also amazingly done and I LOVED the additional POV. I will never get over this book and how much it utterly wrecked me. A million stars. My favourite duology.

I'm swaying between 3.75/4 stars. I was really enjoying the book until around the 40-50% mark and found it started to drag. From there, I found instances that really peaked my interest but were resolved or explained shortly after. However, one thing I can say about this duology is Rachel Gillig is a beautiful writer. I just don't think this series of books really landed with me as it did with some. I'm definitely interested in reading her other works. Another thing to note, Rachel knows how to end a book. The Knight and The Moth, the last 100 pages I was transfixed and with this ending, I was definitely satisfied but also felt a bit broken from it too. I want to love this duology more but it has not put me off the author at all.
