“All Eli had to do was smile. All Victor had to do was lie. Both proved frighteningly effective.” I had no idea what I was expecting getting into this book but it was phenomenal. I love the little found family that is being formed and I love that there really are no hero’s in this story. The only thing that makes it loose points is the religious aspect tired to Eli, everytime he starting saying something self righteous (which was every time he had a chapter 🙃) I cringed so hard. But even with that it was super believable and VE did an amazing job. I did convince myself before I even started that this was going to be enemies to lovers or more accurately sociopaths to lovers but so far I am delulu.

5/5 ⭐ 0/5 🌶️ Tropes -Found family -Reluctant allies 📖My Thoughts First book in the Villains duology and I'm so impressed. Honestly, reading the summary for the book had me doubting I would enjoy it as much as I did. I love a good anti-hero and Victor is such a badass. I love that before he became an EO he struggled with normal emotions but afterwards he promised himself that he would live by a certain code. OK, Dexter. Even though I was hating on Victor in the beginning, I was rooting for him and his little collection of strays by the end of the book. Highly recommend! ⚠️Triggers A lot happens in this book so definitely quite a few trigger warnings to mention such as, abandonment, death of an animal, graphic violence and death, electrocution, overdosing, self-harm, and attempted suicide.

Where to start... This was sooo good! I loved the characters, and their unique abilities. Normally I'm not into superhero things - but this was so well done, it is not anything like that. This is a book where there are no good guys and you want to root for the villains. I also loved the little "found family" vibes. The chapters are short and I loved how well they flowed from the past to the present, revealing only what was necessary for you to know at the time. Very excited for book 2. 🌶️ 0/5 - Theres 1 short closed door scene.

What a thrilling and fascinating journey this turned out to be! Schwab's signature captivating writing style shines through, pulling you deep into the complex, disturbing, dynamic between Vic and Eli. Their intertwined destinies provided a truly wild narrative. And little Sydney? She truly tugged at my heartstrings; I just wanted to wrap her in bubble wrap and protect her from everything.
