Red Queen
The #1 New York Times bestselling series!
Red Queen, by #1 New York Times bestselling author Victoria Aveyard, is a sweeping tale of power, intrigue, and betrayal, perfect for fans of Lauren Robert's Powerless and George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones series.
Mare Barrow's world is divided by blood—those with common, Red blood serve the Silver-blooded elite, who are gifted with superhuman abilities. Mare is a Red, scraping by as a thief in a poor, rural village, until a twist of fate throws her in front of the Silver court. Before the king, princes, and all the nobles, she discovers she has an ability of her own.
To cover up this impossibility, the king forces her to play the role of a lost Silver princess and betroths her to one of his own sons. As Mare is drawn further into the Silver world, she risks everything and uses her new position to help the Scarlet Guard—a growing Red rebellion—even as her heart tugs her in an impossible direction.
One wrong move can lead to her death, but in the dangerous game she plays, the only certainty is betrayal.

Oh, wow. I have no idea where to even start with this book. I've had it for over a year now, and I've been putting off reading it, but I'm so glad I finally did. There's so much I want to say about this, but I don't think I have the right words to talk about it. I guess I'll start with the plot. I actually found the plot to be really enjoyable! The whole forced marriage due to an incident trope reminded me of [b:Serpent & Dove|40024139|Serpent & Dove (Serpent & Dove, #1)|Shelby Mahurin|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1549476128l/40024139._SY75_.jpg|61991324], and I think that's another thing that I really enjoyed about it. I actually enjoyed Serpent & Dove, so the likeness of it made me love this. Now, let's talk about characters. I don't really have any opinions on Mare. She's just.. I dunno. She's okay, I guess. Now, Kilorn.. 😏 He's great and I love him. CAL TOO! Did I like Maven there for a minute? Maybe. Do I hate him now more than I did The Darkling from [b:Shadow and Bone|10194157|Shadow and Bone (The Shadow and Bone Trilogy, #1)|Leigh Bardugo|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1339533695l/10194157._SX50_.jpg|15093325]? Yes. Maven is hot, yes, but what he did was even more unforgivable than what Darkles did. I'm not even going to discuss the queen, because that would make this review even longer than it already is. I didn't tab this book, only because it's paperback fantasy, and I HATE tabbing paperback fantasy books. Overall, I rate this book 5/5 stars, but I probably won't read it again. unless i get my lil hands on the hardcover versions of these babies. then they're getting tabbed 😋

I did like this, but not enough. I was quite bored and the characters were very forgettable. I did read this straight after powerless though, which I adored. So maybe I’d like it more if I hadn’t just read that? I’ll probably reread one day and try again “Anyone can betray anyone”

I really liked this book ~ I did take me longer to read than normal because of life. The characters were amazing. The author made me like characters who i shouldn’t have. This was an emotional turmoil. The plot while a little slow at the beginning had nice pacing and I really enjoyed it. I can’t wait to be able to read the next ones.
