What. Was. That. Ending. HELLO??! 😀😀 LETS NOG CAPTURE MY BABY AND TURN HIM INTO A WAR CRIMINAL? Anyways. I picked this up on a whim this morning, and I’m so glad I did. This book was actually insanely good. I loved the magic systems in this, and I love the characters. I’m very excited to continue with the next book! I love Iris and Roman 🥹. My sweet babies. The only reason this book isn’t a 5 star is because it just didn’t .. hit the 5 star mark for me. So, I give this book 4.5/5 stars, and I’m definitely excited to continue!

I was not expecting this book to be as raw as it was. I wasn't overly interested in the romance but it was a nice addition to an otherwise very raw and real feeling book about war, despite it being in a fictional/fantasy setting.

This book fully stole my heart. I went in not knowing anything about it and ended up totally swept away by Iris and Roman’s tender, magical love story. The worldbuilding was natural and easy to follow, and the pacing was just right. Going to get my hands on the sequel IMMEDIATELY.

I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected to. I hadn't expected to be rooting for the MC's quite as much as I did for some reason, but this was really enjoyable. I loved the initial mystery of the communications, the slow realisation of the story behind their current situations, and then the reveals. I will definitely be reading book 2!
