The Bride Test
From the USA Today bestselling author of The Kiss Quotient comes a romantic novel about love that crosses international borders and all boundaries of the heart...
Khai Diep has no feelings. Well, he feels irritation when people move his things or contentment when ledgers balance down to the penny, but not big, important emotions—like grief. And love. He thinks he's defective. His family knows better—that his autism means he just processes emotions differently. When he steadfastly avoids relationships, his mother takes matters into her own hands and returns to Vietnam to find him the perfect bride.
As a mixed-race girl living in the slums of Ho Chi Minh City, Esme Tran has always felt out of place. When the opportunity arises to come to America and meet a potential husband, she can't turn it down, thinking this could be the break her family needs. Seducing Khai, however, doesn't go as planned. Esme's lessons in love seem to be working...but only on herself. She's hopelessly smitten with a man who's convinced he can never return her affection.
With Esme's time in the United States dwindling, Khai is forced to understand he's been wrong all along. And there's more than one way to love.

This wasn't what I expected. It was so much better. I'm usually annoyed with the arranged marriage trope but this was different. The FMC (bride to-be) had so much depth, and it may of started out as a means to an end, but it became so much more than that with her drive to be independent not just for herself, but for her daughter too. I loved and respected the fact that she was secretly a mom, and wanted to give her the best life she could. The MMC was a really interesting character. I love that this series really hones in on flawed characters that are on the spectrum and the wide array how different those qualities and quirks look and present for different people. 🌶️ 2.5/5 I don't know why I didn't see it at first, but I was pleasantly surprised with the “experience” level of the MMC… I don't want to spoil it so don't assume you know what I mean by that lol I definitely got a feeling of obsession and complete enthrallment between these two. The spice was resolved and such a fun read. A beautiful blend of awkward and understanding.
