It took me a little bit to get into this book, but once I did, I was hooked! This has all the makings of an epic fantasy. The world-building was complex and interesting, spanning different politics, religions, magic systems, and court dealings across different regions; the characters were incredibly well-fleshed out and their interactions remained believable and purposeful; and the overall plot was just incredible. We’re introduced to so many different levels of conflict, both over-arching and in-house, and yet, it remains hopeful. I love that!
