A Court of Thorns and Roses #2

A Court of Mist and Fury

Sarah J. Maas

4.85

The seductive #1 global bestselling sequel to Sarah J. Maas's spellbinding A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR).

Feyre has undergone more trials than one human woman can carry in her heart. Though she's now been granted the powers and lifespan of the High Fae, she is haunted by her time Under the Mountain and the terrible deeds she performed to save the lives of Tamlin and his people.

As her marriage to Tamlin approaches, Feyre's hollowness and nightmares consume her. She finds herself split into two different people: one who upholds her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court, and one who lives out her life in the Spring Court with Tamlin. While Feyre navigates a dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms. She might just be the key to stopping it, but only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future-and the future of a world in turmoil.

Bestselling author Sarah J. Maas's masterful storytelling brings this second book in her dazzling, sexy, action-packed series to new heights.

EDIT: Wow. I can't believe it's been 3 years since I read this. Yes, I'm a few days late on updating this, but it's still been 3 years. Anyhow, I really enjoyed this on my re-read of it. I definitely think it's still 5 stars, and I don't see that changing very much. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have absolutely no words for this book. I genuinely loved everything about this. This is definitely my favorite of the series so far, and I'm SO GLAD that I finally decided to pick this up again. I'm definitely excited to see where the next book goes, and as bad as this might sound, I'm excited for the war aspect of it. I loved (and I say that with hesitation) the war part of Throne of Glass, so I'm hoping this is just as amazing, if not better than, that was. Azriel, Cassian, and Rhys are still some of my favorite book men. I don't love Lucien as much as I did before, but I suppose he's okay. We're not going to talk about Tampon- I mean Tamlin. Overall, I give this book 5/5 stars, and I most definitely recommend it.

By far, the best one out of the entire series. I couldn’t put it down and felt like all the details we were given were absolutely necessary.

I am obsessed with this book. I’m going to read the next one right away. The whole story is so good, I loved the characters, world building, story line, dialogues. Just everything. I also really like Feyre, I did in the first book but this second book has truly shown how smart she is, mixed with her new abilities, she is unstoppable. Rhysand is just everything she needs, and their whole group and their minds and abilities complement each other so well. Amern gets a special shout out cause I love her so much. I can’t wait to read book three

Reread Dramatic Audio: Wow that was so good, I really enjoyed experiencing this with the different narrators. I forgot how tense everything gets near the end... excited for the next book. This follow up to ACOTAR 1, was so good! I love how well it came together, the main love interest shifts, the pacing was good, and the romance was romancing at a very respectable pace. The MFC was a lil bratty, but I get it there was a lot to process and trauma to work through - which most certainly gets worked through in a well crafted way. Spice kicks up a notch.

While I'd still consider this one of my favorite books of all time, this reread fell a little flat for me. I don't know if it's because I was listening to the audiobook and I wasn't the biggest fan of the narrator, or if I've reached an age where I find specific parts of SJM's writing style a little insufferable. But overall, I still think it's a very enjoyable read. You just have to be willing to look past the flaws.
