A dark and twisted but utterly beautiful retelling where Neverland is as flawed as the real world and dreams and imagination have been dying for centuries. First off, I was blown away by how amazing the writing was. So I’ll share some of my favorite quotes to entice you: *“A world without creativity is stagnant, and stagnancy is nothing but a slow death.” “I create and Niko destroys. Not my equal, but my perfect balance.” “Letum has made me realize—you have made me realize—that freedom isn’t some unreachable horizon. It’s being somewhere you’re known. Being with someone who sees you entirely, every horrible part, and doesn’t shy away from it.” “My ribs no longer feel like bone, but tethers of iron winding tighter and tighter around my lungs.”* I absolutely loved the world of Letum. The eternal night, the gothic architecture, the spooky atmosphere. The easy to digest world building was a breath of fresh air for the fantasy genre. If I could bring a world to life, Letum would be it. I honestly think going into this blind is the best way to experience this story. I will say there are twists I did not see coming and the ending is brutal. I also really appreciated the themes in the plot but also in the relationship development between the MC’s. As for the romance, it is very well done. It’s raw, real and full of yearning but also heart breaking. There may or may not be a soul touching moment in a gorgeous secret hot spring.
