This was a gut-wrenching, thought-provoking, visceral read, and I loved it. I thought each chapter worked well independently, but once woven together to create the bigger picture, told an impactful story that did not shy away from the absolute horrors of slavery and the necessity (and catharsis) of putting an end to oppression. Each story is well-researched and powerful. Each act of rebellion (and revenge) absolutely deserved. I would love to revisit this story in print someday. The audiobook was a rough listen, but the story itself is fantastic.
